Sweet Seduction by Maya Banks

Way to go me! This review was supposed to post a while ago but it never did. This is the third book in the Sweet series by Banks and I do have the second book reviewed. I have finally found the first book! I got it from my local used book store and snatched it up, so when I can I will be reading and reviewing that. Will I be reading the rest of the series? I don't know yet. I'll get into that later. I do have a video review coming soon so watch out for that link. Here's the video!

Julie had eyes for one guy but it seemed like he was more infatuated with ignoring her. She loved the fact that she was able to get paid for oiling him up and rubbing him down. When you are a salon owner there are some perks. Giving Nathan his last rub down with a little extra thrown in, she plans to move on. Thing is Nathan wasn't oblivious to Julie, it was the exact opposite. When he finds out she is going to let someone else to fulfil her fantasies, he decides to put a stop to that and nail her down. Now there is just trying to figure out how to do that.

Here is yet another book that made me laugh, I am not complaining either. I really needed the laughs. I got a sneak peak at what the first book held, and some of the things that went down. Though very little is recapped and little is spoiled. So a person could read the books by themselves and be fine. Julie made me laugh the most, while Faith and Nathan are tied for second. I did very much like the hints as to the next book. The three main girls are done now and it has to continue with someone and Banks was sure to shed some light on who it is. The ending didn't annoy me but I did have a problem with it.

I didn't like that it was "guy gets the girl, the end." I am extremely happy that they didn't break up and then get back together like I ranted in Sweet Persuasion. Still, guy gets the girl, done. This book wasn't anything crazy special. I liked it because it made me laugh, but I don't see myself wanting to reread it over and over. There were a few parts I wanted to skip because it was a bit dull but the whole book can't be crazy from start to finish, right? I don't know if I want to continue the series because it seems that it's the same story, just different characters and change a few things. That doesn't keep me interested.

This is not something I would recommend for a younger audience. There is sex from beginning to end, it is intertwined in the story. If that upsets you, this isn't for you. It is by no means a bad book I did enjoy it quite a bit, but like I said before, I don't see that I will be reaching for it anytime in the future. As for owning it, I know where I can get it for a steal of a price I might get it the next time I am there.

Rating: Eh, 3 out of 5.

Page Count: 297 pages (paperback)

Price: $16

Next Book: Hellraisers by Alexander Gordon Smith

Thank you for reading, I'm sorry I didn't notice that it wasn't posted sooner!

Sweet Persuasion by Maya Banks

I know! I am reading the second book and not the first book like a good little nugget. My library didn't have the first book and ordering it from another one would have taken a month or two. So I decided to read the second book and deal with some of the spoilers for the first. I will try not to spoil anything from the first if I can. I'm sorry if I do. Sweet Persuasion is the second book in the Sweet series by Maya Banks. I think this is the first full length novel I am reading from her, and I enjoyed it very much.

Serena has been fulfilling other people fantasies, she hadn't really given her own a thought. That's all changed once she comes forth with wanting to be dominated and to be owned by a man. There is just the perfect person known to make this fantasy come true one way. Damon Roche owns a sex club and the man that Serena seeks out. Together they will push each others limits, Damon has no intentions of letting go, but Serena isn't sure. She's everything that he has ever wanted and he has to convince her to stay with him. His submissive.

I liked the message of "doing what makes you happy", either through your job or extracurricular activities, something has to do it for you. If you are not doing what makes you happy you should think about doing something that does. So long as it is legal. I think we are aware that this is not a YA novel, this is an adult book. With that being said after the sexier scenes where done, I thought there was going to be more in depth detail. I like that there wasn't. It was tasteful and not overdone. With that Banks didn't allow the sex to be everything in the book, yes it was a good portion, but I feel I learned more about the characters than I have with a few other erotic books. I laughed so much, mainly from the three girls that are best friends, but from beginning to end I was laughing.

I have two dislikes. One pertains to the book and the other is a rant. The one that actually deals with the book is that there were a few times that I felt like it got a little dull. Though once those spots where over they were quickly forgotten. Now for the rant. I am sick of endings going like this; the love interests in the book either towards the end or in the second book of the series (if the couple are the powerhouse of the series), break up because of something (sometimes stupid sometimes not) and then get back together because they realize how much they belong together. This is getting annoying. I am sick of reading books that follow this because I know now the telling signs to it about to happen and then I skip the last 15 to 20 pages of the book. I just find the one sentence that says why they got back together and skip everything in between.

I wish I had the first book to read, I really do not like reading a series out of order. This wasn't too bad though. I don't feel like the first book got ruined or why that couple broke up and then got back together. That is about the only thing that bugged me the most. Every thing else was great. I do recommend this to the more mature audience, it is labeled an "adult" book for a reason. After reading this book I do want to read more from Banks. I do want to own this book and maybe the series.
