Being Me by Lisa Renee Jones

Right on the heels of the last review this is the second book in the Inside Out series. Sadly I don't have the third book but as soon as I get it and read it there will be a review up as usual.

The whereabouts of Rebecca are still unknown. Sara has to deal with her past a lot quicker than she planned with the tormented artist Chris Merit. She wants every bit of the romance promised but she isn't sure if the safety that comes with it is also promised. Her connection with Chris is tested again and again. Once things seem to be perfect something, as usual, comes along and messes it up.

I loved this book as much as the first book, but I found myself getting frustrated in a good way. Everything that I had good to say about the last book also applies to this book. As the reader we find out a lot more about Sara and it just makes us sympathize with her more. There are a few points where I want to slap her for being stupid, but then again I think we all come across that point with characters. If this series where still a trilogy I do think this would be an excellent middle book. Chris and Sara's relationship gets tested a lot in this book, which keeps things interesting. I wouldn't say the testing is with anything huge multiple times, but small things. There was one huge thing, though, one huge, sad thing. The ending was yet another, but smaller cliffhanger.

There was one thing that I did not like about this book. In the book world when there is a series or a trilogy, the main couple tend to break up in the second book. At least I have noticed this a lot through my years of reading. Unfortunately this happens to Sara and Chris. I was hoping that Jones would stray away from this. I understand that authors need to keep their books interesting to keep readers with their books and to get new readers, but I really would like to read a series where the main couple doesn't break up in the second book. Though the break up wasn't a long break up it was one nonetheless.

Overall I really enjoyed reading this book, and I read it all in one day. The ending just makes me want to hunt down the next book and read it as well. Once again I do recommend this book to others but as a warning it is an erotic romance, so there is sex. Even with the trend of couples breaking up in the second book I was still very pleased with this book.

If I Were You by Lisa Renee Jones

This is the first book in the Inside Out series. It is no longer a trilogy there are 5 books planned, including the first 3 that are out already. There are also quite a bit of novellas planned and a couple out already, I do what to get those and read them. Once I do the reviews will be up for them.

In this erotic romance book, a school teacher is turned on to so many things that she didn't know existed. Best friend of Sara McMillan gives her a key to a storage locker, that she won off of an auction. Inside that locker lies a journal of a woman named Rebecca. She has this crazy love with a man who is never named and Sara get wrapped up in the ecstasy of her life and love. The journal entries come to a halting end and Sara becomes consumed in finding out what happened to Rebecca and travels down nearly the same path that she did.

Holy hell my peeps! This book was a crazy one that I could not stop reading I finished in a day and I wanted so much more of it. I loved every bit of Sara and man oh man, Chris Merit is a hunk. Every turn and bump in the story was interesting to figure out how Sara was going to overcome it and how Jones was going to take it. I found that I loved quite a number of characters and I loved to hate Sara's new boss at her new job. If you liked Fifty Shades, then you will enjoy this book. Everything that you wanted from Fifty is in this book. I was terrified that it was just going to be another repeat of Fifty and having nothing but a erotic sex plot and nothing else, but it isn't. There is a lot less sex than Fifty but there is still some. I would also classify this book in the mystery genera though, just not as hardcore as other mysteries are. Sara's love for paintings is something new that I haven't read about, and was a welcome change.

Really I didn't not like anything about it. I wish it were longer of a book but the ending was a good one. Hint: cliffhanger. There were a few spots of predictability and only one major thing that I knew before it was exposed. I wasn't too disappointed simply because I didn't know what would come from it.

Honestly I loved this book, I devoured it in one day like I said before. It is a quick read for those who read quicker than others. I do recommend it to others just keep in mind there is sex in this book. So if you don't want to read a book with sex in it, don't read this book. This is my personal copy and I want all the novellas that are out and coming out along with the rest of this series. I do hope that this series stays just as good as this first book. I would most definitely read this book again.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Price: $15 (I got it for around $9-$11 at Sam's Club)

Next Book: One more book review before I reveal what I am reading next, it isn't a big surprise I just want to put it where it belongs.

Thank you so much for reading! Sorry about this one being short I didn't want to give anything good away

The Strain by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan

This is the first book in The Strain trilogy. It took me a long time to get through simply because college picked up big time. But I will have 2 other reviews up along with this one so stay close by for those as well. I do want to thank those of you who have viewed my other reviews of books, I appreciate it!

When an airplane comes in completely dark and no communication can be made, everyone assumes the worse at New York's JFK Airport. The CDC's rapid response team is called in and Dr. Eph Goodweather is with them. When the board the plane to see what is wrong no one is prepared for what they see. From that point on a virus spreads through the city, consuming with a endless hunger. A Holocaust survivor working in a pawnshop know that his nightmare has come true and a war with vampires has began.

From the very beginning I was hooked, I hated to put the book down because it seemed like every time I picked it back up, I was a couple pages away from something good happening. There is a beautiful back story that you get bits and pieces of, and it makes the story that much more interesting. I also love the fact that Hogan and Toro took the "normal" vampires and made them something different. *SPOILER-ALERT* Instead of having fangs, they have a stinger of sorts that comes out of their mouth to get their victims blood. And not all that are turned are smart, they have one basic need and that is to feed.*SPOILER-ENDED* They do take some of the myths that came with vampires and use them, which I love because lets be honest, new age vampires are just annoying sometimes. This was released in 2009, but it is a welcome to get vampires back to "normal". I do love two characters in particular and they are the Holocaust survivor, Abraham Setrakian, and Ephraim Goodweather. I'm not sure why I like them, I just do and I think a lot of people who read this book would say the same (at least I hope they would). They are just two of the few main characters.

I did say that I was hooked from the beginning, but that was short lived. By time I got to the middle of the book I pretty much knew everything that was going to happen, and what was tried to be kept secret. It was predictable and I was disappointed with this. Toro is the same man who many of people know as a director, and I was expecting something a lot better. The last 150 pages of the book seemed to drag on and take forever. Once the ending did come I did know how it was going to happen pretty much down to specifics. If the book would have continued being as interesting as the beginning I would be less disappointed. I do know that there are two other books after this one with it being a trilogy, but I don't know if I would read the second book anytime soon. There is a lot more to this book and I think that is another problem. It all is relevant to the story, but it seems to be too much for just one book. There are lots of characters that Toro and Hogan cut to after a few pages, and sometimes you forget who they are and how they are relevant to the plot. I didn't like this because I had to keep going back and rereading who was who. That isn't for everyone but it is for a few people.

My disappointment overrides how much I like this book almost completely. I do recommend this book simply because someone else might love it more then I do, but I would also warn them about what I didn't like about the book. Like I said before I am not sure if I would read the second book anytime soon, if I do you guys will be sure to know.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Page Count: 585 pages (paperback)

Price: $9.99 (this is my personal book, but I got it a bag sale my library does from time to time)

Next Book: None. I have two more reviews coming today so stay tuned!

Books Coming Out!

I have heard that The Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy has the third book coming out in April, and hopefully my library will have it. I am really anxious to finish that trilogy, and I found out as well that Laini Taylor has a novella out called Night of Cake & Puppets. I haven't seen it at my library but if it comes in I will be sure to grab it up and get a review of it up.

Another book that is coming out is the third book in the White Rabbit Chronicles by Gena Showalter. This is another highly anticipated book for me. Supposedly the release date for that book is in really late September. If anything changes on the date I will let you all know.

Hopefully I will have the review for The Strain up soon, only one more week left of college for this term!

Thanks for reading, and see you all soon!

Fallen in Love by Lauren Kate

In the Fallen series this is considered a side book from the series. It is not a "full" book. It is short and contains four short stories that all have the same background. I would recommend reading this book after reading Passion but before Rapture. It takes place inside of Passion, but actually having these things happen would have thrown the book off. All four stories intertwine in some way or another.

Four love stories all intersect over the course of Valentines Day in medieval England. Miles and Shelby have an unexpected love. Roland learns a lesson in finding love and losing it. Arriane pays a price for her love, which is so passionate it burns. Daniel and Luce spend a night together for the first and last time, and it isn't like the others.

Miles and Shelby are two of Luce's friends that end up going back in time to find and help her out. They never get to Luce, always a few second behind her. Well Daniel tells them to head back to the present time and not to worry, where he is going they can't. So they listen and leave, and in the meantime they get lost on the way back. They end up in medieval England, the day before Valentines Day. They run into Roland and ask for his help. Overall this was a very sweet and romantic blossom of love between Miles and Shelby. They don't even seem like two people who would end up together under normal circumstances, but these are not normal times.

Next is Roland. After finding Miles and Shelby and agreeing to help he goes off to do just that. On his way we find out some things about Roland. He used to be madly in love with a human female from that exact time. Of course he thinks about her and thinks about going back to her. Just before he can, he finds out that she is wedded to another man and is a mother. Roland could have easily killed the husband and said it was a travesty of war. Instead he gets her husband out of going to war. Joining the ranks he runs into Arriane and finds that she too hasn't had that great of a time in England. Roland's story was very bittersweet. He is head over heals in love with this girl and knowing that it would never work with him being immortal he leaves her. Couldn't get any worse, from this bittersweet love right?

Wrong. Arriane's story is very sad but sweet in spots. Arriane chose Heaven over Hell and her love Tess chose Hell over Heaven. They could never be together properly. But nonetheless the try to be together. It isn't as simple as it seems. Even when they are together they are sad, knowing that in the end they have to leave each other. As the reader you can tell they love each other very much. Tess makes a mistake and thinks that she can get Arriane to join the ranks of the fallen angles. This causes a rift and Arriane takes off, thinking for good. Tess feeling terrible takes a starshot (the one thing that can harm and leave marks on angels, and kill) and mutilates her wings. Arriane is devastated, because of the starshot infecting Tess's blood Arriane gets burn marks from where Tess's blood touches her. I thought with this being around Valentines Day things would have been more happy. Nope. Things are just sad in this story.

This past lifetime of Luce's is not in Passion, though it does not differ very much from the others. Lucinda (past Luce) is very sad. She thinks that once Daniel (past Daniel) had found out that she is just a commoner he will not want to be with her. So she tries to go on with her life. Our future Luce shows up and cleaves (slips inside of her body without anyone noticing but future Luce herself) with the past Luce. She goes the Valentines Day party and has a good time. Cam shows up and tries to warn her of everything he can without spilling the truth. After he leaves Daniel finally shows up and they leave together to have some alone time. In the end everyone is at the party and enjoying themselves as much as they can. This last story wasn't as sad as the rest but it wasn't as happy as Miles and Shelby's. I would have taken this story over Arriane's if I was given the choice.

If you are expecting a happy Valentine's Day short stories, for the most part they are not. What happy moments you are given you are happy for because it lightens up the very sad mood. This is a boon in the Fallen series and I wouldn't mind owning, even with the sadness in it. There is a insert of Rapture in the end.

Passion by Lauren Kate

This is the third book in the Fallen series. I have a review for the second book up already. I don't have one for the first book because I read that before I started this blog.

Time after time Luce has died for Daniel. It doesn't matter what time in history they meet, after so long of knowing each other, Luce eventually goes up in flames. Daniel is left with a broken heart. Luce thinks that by going back in time she can figure out something to stop this horrible curse. She goes back and one after another she witnesses her time with Daniel for herself. Something or someone has to be able to help her. All of the angels, and Outcasts are trying to get to Luce, but none are as determined as Daniel. One slip and Luce can rewrite history and their love could disappear forever this time.

Passion picks up right after Torment leaves off. I liked this because there is no jump in time and it wouldn't make sense if there was. Luce jumps into an Announcer (windows to the past) and goes back again and again. After about the second or third past life that she sees she realizes that things happen the same way every time, just for different reasons. It's nice to read some of the past lives because they are interesting. You learn more about Cam which is nice because after the first two books in the series you are interested in him. I have a love hate turmoil going on with one character. He's this little, sassy gargoyle named Bill that comes along to help Luce travel around. Right away you know something is not right about him, but after sometime you grow to like (and even love him in my case) him and you want him to be good. He's hilarious and had me laughing a number of times. *SPOILER-ALERT* But in the end he ends up being one of the main bad guys. *SPOILER-ENDED* There weren't too many things that I liked about this book, but then again there weren't many things that I didn't like, and I will explain later.

One thing that I didn't like but saw coming was Bill. I wanted him to stay good for the whole book and become that little guy that pops out later in the last book to give words of wisdom and advice. Another thing that I didn't like was after a while things became very redundant with each life that Luce visited, and very little was different. I know that was the point, but for the reader we get it after about the second or third past life. After that I wanted to skip through things until Luce did realize something that went along with the curse. To me this book wasn't super exciting or intriguing except at the beginning and at the very end.

As I said there wasn't too much that I like or disliked about this book. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great. It was okay. I will be reading the last book, and doing a review on it. So far as of reading this third book, I wouldn't reread this series in order. I might reread the first book and maybe the last depending on how it goes. The first book is probably the only book that I would want to own. This is considered a "Teen" novel, and that is who I would recommend it to, teens.

The Fury by Alexander Gordon Smith

This is a fairly new book from Smith, it came out in 2013. Smith has a series out called Escape From Furnace, along with a couple other stand alone books. Happy New Year!

Without a single warning the whole world has turned against a selected few. They want to tear them apart, and not care that it is their own child, friend, brother, sister, whoever. The Fury has infected everyone that it can, and it will not stop until these people are dead. These poor teens create a group and try to find out what has happened, why, and how to stop it. It is never that easy though, and they go through a series of battles just to survive. But the real enemy isn't everyone attacking them, it's a seriously dark force that wants nothing but the decimation of the world. These kids have a lot on their plates, and it seems that with every hour that goes by, something else is added to it.

I just recently found out about Smith through his Escape From Furnace series, and I really loved those books. So I was expecting more of the same from him in this book. I was extremely happy with this book. I couldn't put this book down (I know I have said this for the past few review but it is true!) I had to keep reading. Smith really draws you and keeps your attention even when you don't want to be reading. I love that Smith didn't go with a straight up zombie apocalypse, they don't try to eat the kids just kill them. The Fury when it infects these people the teens have to be about 20 meters from them for the Fury to kick in. So long as they are farther then that they don't have to worry about the people. You start off and end with Brick, Cal, and Daisy and then as the book goes along you get to meet other characters who are not infected with the Fury, and a couple who are. There is action all throughout the book, sometimes it is slower paced action to keep things balanced and not on a constant high, and this worked very well with this book. I loved basically all of the characters especially Daisy and Adam, and hated those evil characters. What makes the literal kids different is this thing inside of them. Smith calls it "angels" I like to think of it as a supernatural defense system for the human race. I can see the parallelism between the two though. *SPOILER-ALERT* I can see where the angel part comes in because when the defense system kicks in in the kids they become this fiery blue inferno.*SPOILER-ENDED* Also for anyone reading, if they liked Stephen Kings The Stand I instantly thought of that book when I was reading this one. Smith also reminded me of Darren Shan, I'm not really sure I just thought of him too while reading. I love the main problem that arises, "the man in the storm" who is destroying the world. It was different and I haven't read another book with the same exact thing, yet. There is so much more that I really enjoyed about this book, but I don't want to bore you all with a really long post.

My dislikes should not be taken to heart for this review. They are just me wanting the events to have happened differently. The first one is the ending, and who "dies". I really was not happy with that but I understand why they were chosen and why they did it. Secondly is how they defeated the man in the storm. Once again I understand why it was done, it was just really cheesy to me. It gave me the same exact feeling Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes did when the little boy is saved by a hug. If it weren't for me being me, I would have nothing to complain about, but those where the only things I had to say.

I am extremely happy with this book. I say it is not just for Teens it is for everyone. Smith did a very good job with this book. I would love to own this book along with his Escape From Furnace series. He is slowly becoming an author that I wouldn't hesitate to pick up and read a book from. He is a young author and I hope that he continues to write such captivating books. I recommend anyone to read his books.

Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor

So! Here is the second book review for the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series by Laini Taylor. There is a third book coming out called Dreams of Gods & Monsters in April 2014, around the 8th (please don't shoot the messenger if the release date is moved, thanks!). I will try to get that as soon as I can but who knows when that will be. I do have a review up of the first book in the series, go check it out if you would like. I hope you enjoy! Happy holidays!

Karou now knows everything about herself. Good and bad. The love that she trusted, killed everything that was apart of her. And now they sit apart from each other, as a war comes back to life after being dormant for so long. As the time draws near, Karou is working hard to rebuild her peoples numbers and must decide what to do about Avika and the coming changes.Things aren't getting easier for Karou or Avika but they keep fighting and coming up with new strategies, but will there come a point when they are done?

This isn't a happy, cheery, all smiles book. This is the calm before the storm in the next book, but it isn't that calm though. I love that though Karou and Avika aren't together in this book (like I mentioned in a different review) it really doesn't follow the writing stereotype. They aren't together because Avika *SPOILER-ALERT* is the reason why Brimstone and everyone else that Karou loved is dead. *SPOILER-ENDED* He didn't know that Karou was Madrigal in the life before, until they broke the wishing bone and he knew for sure. It's safe to say that he feels horrible about it though. I love how this time around it's not the girl trying to get the guy back, it's actually Avika trying to get Karou back and by any means necessary, even if it means letting her go. I love that Karou shows that even when surrounded by creatures that could kill her in seconds, that she will never back down. She really grows as a character in this book, even with everything that happens to her. I don't want to give away any of the good things though! Zuzanna is an amazing friend as usual, and I think that really helps Karou to be strong. I really couldn't put this book down, I wanted to read it from front to back but thanks to the holidays I couldn't. Something new for this book that I liked was that the readers are not just given Karou and Avika's story, there are a few others that we get to read and follow for a bit. From the first chapter to the last, this book had action going, being either in your face or subtly creeping out of the shadows and staring at you. I love that the readers get to see into the lives of the Chimaera and the Angels, and see that neither is very pretty at all.

When I picked up this series I had a feeling that it wasn't going to be too happy of a series, but it does have its moments. However this book didn't have many at all. For this being a trilogy, this second book was more of a back story leading up to the next book. It did stay on the plot, but I really just wanted to know what happened to Karou and Avika the most, not all of the other characters that Taylor had put in, though I did enjoy reading about them. And just like I loved reading this book, I didn't want to read what was going to come next. This isn't a happy book like I said, but it isn't a terrible book, it's really far from it. I just wished it lead up to this next book in a different way. As for characters the White Wolf is on my sh!t list for all of eternity, along with Ten, and a few others.

As a whole I loved this book, there were a few things that I did not like. But I wouldn't want them changed, I would just tweak them a bit. I do know that I still feel the same about wanting to own this trilogy if I had the money and knew who was selling them. I do recommend these books to everyone who wants something different to read. These are located in the "Teen" section of my library but I know that "adults" would enjoy them as well.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Price: $18.99 (hardcover), I paid $5.97 at Meijer.

Through the Zombie Glass by Gena Showalter

Now I know in my last review I said I was going to be reviewing Days of Blood & Starlight next but, my library got Through the Zombie Glass borrowed from a fellow library and I had to read it. I will be doing the next review on Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor for sure. I do have the first book in this trilogy reviewed, feel free to check it out.

In the second book in the White Rabbit Chronicles Alice Bell has not a dull moment. She thinks that she has lost everything that she can. She finds out that she is wrong. A zombie attack goes awry and things start to go down hill from there. Mirrors come to life, and whispers of the undead come to Ali. But there is more. Darkness takes root in Ali and makes her want to do terrible things. In this time, Ali needs her slayer family more then ever. Her boyfriend, and the leader of the slayers, the hunk Cole Holland basically drops everyone, including Ali. Thankfully her best friend Kat sticks by her side while Ali must kill zombies, find out Cole's secret, and figure out how to fight the darkness within her. If anything goes wrong, they're all screwed.

I couldn't put this book down. If I had time I was reading, and nothing else. I didn't want to sleep, I just wanted to devour this book. On top of being very interesting and not losing your attention there was a good amount of calmer times and action times in the book. The calm times weren't so calm that I wanted to stop reading and I lost interest, they had some action but nothing that I felt deterred from the plot. Ali, Cole, and Kat are my favorite characters still, though I do take issue with Cole in this book. Kat is still that best friend that everyone should have even when everything seems hopeless she's that person you would turn to to make you smile. I love that Ali gains a whole new family even though they aren't blood related. I love that there are still problems with the Anima, but there are new problems as well to keep the book that much more balanced. I laughed quite a number of things from Ali, Kat, Cole, Frosty, and Gavin (new character!).

As always I also have some things to say that I didn't like. Now I normally don't do this but, I have quite a few things that I didn't like, but (for me) they didn't take away too much from me actually wanting to finish this book obviously. And as a note these things that I didn't like could just simply be because this book is for Young Adults, I have a higher reading level and am considered an "adult". For starters, there were quite a few times when I knew exactly what was going to happen, when, how, and with who. That doesn't happen often. Now if this was intentional on Showalter's part then I salute her, she did it perfectly. One of these things that I saw coming is a trend that comes from a lot of series. And that trend is the main characters who are in a relationship in the first book, end up breaking up in the second or third book. Obviously from either reading the summary I provided or finding the actual one you can tell that they break up. I was disappointed that this trend was followed. Then the other things that I found predictable is how Ali is cured, what happens with Kat, Frosty, Cole and a few others, why Cole, and Ethan are doing the things they are doing, and how things are going to end. A good portion of this book was predictable for me but I loved it nonetheless.

I loved this second book in the White Rabbit Chronicles. From the way Showalter ends it, there could be a third book, but if following in Lewis Carol's fashion this could quite possibly be the last book. I do want to own these two books one day. I do see myself rereading these. Showalter is an excellent young adult novelist, along with adult novelist. I completely recommend these books to anyone and everyone, fully knowing that someone else may not like them like I do. Other then the predictability I still very much loved this book, as I have said a number of times now.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Torment by Lauren Kate

This is the second book in the Fallen series. I did read the first book long before I stated this review blog, but I will one day reread it and do a review on it. *MINIRANT* My library, as much as I love it, has this thing where half of a series will be on the shelf and the other half will be gone, and never in order at that. I will check beforehand on the website that the books are in. Going up there the book will not be on the shelf. After seeing this I go and talk to someone and come to find out if the book is not on the shelf it isn't in the library. Even if the website says it is.....so if I skip around in a series or read the first book, then don't read the next book for quite a while that is the reason why. Annoying, yes. I don't like it but it's the closest library to me. I'm sorry if this bugs anyone, this is just what happens. *MINIRANT-ENDED*

Luce and Daniel have to be apart, as much as they want to be together the distance is needed. Daniel has to hunt down Outcasts-immortals who want to kill Luce. So for the time being Luce gets tucked away at a school in California called Shoreline. A special school for Nephilim, the offspring of fallen angels and humans, to help blend in a bit and get schooled properly. While at this school Luce learns what the Shadows really are, and how they can help her find out about her previous lives. With the more that Luce learns, the more she can't help but feel that Daniel isn't giving her the full picture on what is going on. But what is he not telling her?

Right away the prologue drew me in because here is Cam and Daniel, enemies in the previous book, working together to keep Luce safe. They hint toward a few things quite often and that is what kept me interested in the book. I wanted to know what was going to happen with those hints, and see how Kate unfolded them. There are a few bitter-sweet moments in the book, which helps keep the readers attention at times. I also like a number of the new character introduced, they remind me of a few people in the first book as well. Luce gets those protective friends again, and after a little bit she can feel somewhat okay about being at this new school. I liked that with Daniel being away Luce is able to question all of the aspects of her life, including her past ones. Daniel has been very hush-hush about them and only letting bits and pieces be known to Luce, *SPOILER-ALERT* this puts a little wrinkle in their relationship, and even a new (but small) love interest for Luce comes along at Shoreline.*SPOILER-ENDED* I liked the new threat from the Outcasts, and I loved a few spoken lines at the end of the book. It really makes the reader want to get the next book and see what exactly they meant, and what is going to happen with this new information.

That being said, what handful of things that happened throughout the book are about the most interesting things. I did find myself wanting to skip ahead to parts that were more exciting then what I was reading. Torment is a little on the wordier side, but it isn't as bad as a few other books. Another thing that I wasn't too happy about was in the little insert on the front flap of the book, it is hinted toward Luce being meant for someone else. After reading the book I wasn't quite sure what Kate was trying to get at with that. Was Luce meant to free people? Was Luce meant to love someone else? Was Luce meant to be someone else? All three of these things were hinted toward throughout the book. Maybe this is something that is better explained in the third book. Other then my library literally taking forever to get this book back on the shelf, I don't have anything else to complain about.

For it being a while since I last read the first book, I wasn't really confused as to what was going on. Yes, I did remember a few of the major details like this being a book about angels and humans, and a few fights, and main characters. But if someone else where to start this series on the second book they wouldn't have that hard of a time understanding what is going on. I only had a few things to not like about the book and a whole mess of things to like and love. I do want to own this series as of thus far. That could change as I read the third and fourth book, yes I will do that eventually.

Sex and the Single Vampire by Katie MacAlister

This is the second book in the Dark Ones series. I did not know that, and I have owned this book for a number of years. I will try to do a review on the first book if my library owns it, and when I get around to reading it.

Allegra Telford, she's a Summoner who has found herself wrapped in a web of ghosts, demons, vampires, and much more. She knows all the right things to say about her slight limp, and her almost constant wearing of sunglasses. Christian Dante is a Moravian Dark One. He has spent nine hundred years looking for his Beloved, the one who can redeem his soul. They are polar opposites who have to make things work for the greater good. Something easier said, than done.

To begin I love the fact that Allegra and Christian are so opposite of each other. Allegra is an independent woman, who doesn't like to take orders, and stubborn. Christian is used to women who bend to the mans demand, he's arrogant, domineering, and overly protective. They butt heads at every turn, and sometimes it is hilarious to read some of the things they do together. Almost all of the characters, and ghosts MacAlister introduces in this book are hysterical. They all have their own personality and are not very similar at all. I like that things didn't get dull in the book often, there was always something that needed to be taken care of, and it all lead up to the ending. Most of all I love that Allegra and Christian bend to accommodate each others likes and dislikes...after a lot of leering at each other. I love how the ending didn't just come and go. It lasted (what I feel to be) a good amount of time. Though in some parts it did get a little tedious, I was overall happy with it. And the pink demon that was summoned.

The only thing I have to complain about is that while I was reading this book, I found that I could think about other things and still read. So it didn't really hold my attention as much as I would have liked but that's just me. There wasn't anything else that I didn't like about the book, I was genuinely happy while reading.

Overall I was happy with characters, plot, and the ending of this book. Obviously from the title of this book, it is one for a more mature audience. Though in all honesty I am sure there is much more intense books out there when it comes to sex spots in the book. I do like the way that MacAlister writes so I do look forward to reading more from her. I do recommend this book to others. I do own this book.

Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor

This is the first book in the possible trilogy to come. There are two books out already (including this one) and I have been hearing that a third is on its way in April 2014, but I have not heard or read anything official. Another thing is that when I type up a summary I read over the one that is given on the book. With Daughter of Smoke & Bone there is none. So I have created one of my own based on what I have read in the book.

All over the world black handprints are being burned onto doors. Teeth are growing hauntingly low in a demons shop. And in Prague, a girl is about to find a war on her doorstep. A war that isn't dealing with humans. Karou is a blue haired. tattooed, multilingual girl who runs errands for a demon. The blue hair grows in that way, and everything that she draws in her sketch book may be true. Fostered by a chimaera she has not a clue who she really is. Soon though she finds out when a fiery eyed seraph named Akiva crosses her path.

Karou is a character I fell in love with the moment I opened the book, and her best friend. Brimstone is Karou's foster father and he is one that you learn to love. I couldn't stop reading this book every chance that I got I was reading it. Though I was really confused when I first started reading, everything caught my attention and kept it. Karou though travels through door that lead from the chimaera world and the human world. She gathers teeth for Brimstone, from others. When I read this in the book it reminded me of Howl's Moving Castle, the door in the house. I love when Taylor describes the chimaera they are really neat to picture in your head. I love the setting, I love the characters, I loved a lot about the book and I don't want to give anything away.

Along with liking a lot I dislike very little. I got confused with what was going on twice. In the very beginning and at the very end. But once I read through those parts I understood what was going on. One other thing I didn't like is Akiva's background is so small you really don't know what to get from it. Yes it works with the book, I just wanted to know more about Akiva. There really wasn't anything else that I wasn't happy about.

I love so much about this book, and I know what works for me may not work for someone else. I got this book from the 'teen' section of my library but I really recommend this book to people of all ages. There's romance, heartbreak, and hope all through it. I will be reading the second book, the next time I go to the library I will pick it up. I do want to own these book one day if they continue going on.

Days of Blood & Starlight book two's review!    Dreams of Gods & Monsters book three's review!

Zom-B Angels by Darren Shan

This is the fourth book in the Zom-B series. And the reason why I put Zom-B in the name as well is because if you were to pick up this book or any of the other Zom-B books, Zom-B is the first thing that you are going to see title wise. Once again I am a huge fan of Shan's seeing as I have been reading his books since I was in grade school, but I will leave my bias thoughts out of this review. Don't forget comments are welcome :)

B is back in the fourth installment of Zom-B. She has all but given up hope for normal human existence, but she keeps seeing these strange signs all over the place. Following the sign of a Z and an arrow, she finds a group of people called 'Angels'. They want to go up against the evil forces of the undead. But everything is not what it seems, and it is up to B to find out what the real war is about.

When we left off in the last book (Zom-B City) she was greeted by a guy in an supposed abandoned building. This man is another revived, a zombie that has their wits about them. His name is Dr. Oystein, and he has a huge story that I will not spoil. No the spoiler that you may or may not read is the back story for him. *SPOILER-ALERT* In fact everyone in the compound is a revived except two people.*SPOILER-ENDED* There are three characters that we meet in the first or second book that have come back into the light in this book. I love that. I hate when authors introduce characters, and then they just never show up ever again as the other books come out. I love that Mr. Dowling does not make an appearance in this book, but that mean that he will be coming up more and more in the coming books. And this is hinted toward as well. There are many things that are hinted toward but never fully exposed.

Now I had one huge problem with this book. It seems like it is just a filler book. Nothing huge happens in this book other then the reader finds out some huge things. No real action takes place like in the previous three books. Yes these books are on the smaller side, but this book really seemed like a filler for the series. Half of the things that took place in this book could have simply been explained and taken place in the next book. But that is just me, some other reader may find that this book is a perfect calm after all that has happened in the past three books. To each their own. Other then that there where no other complaints about the book.

I am very happy that three characters came back from the first or second book. I love that big secrets for Dr. Oystein is spilled but others are still kept. I didn't like that this book seemed like a filler for the series. Though this book is from the 'Teen' section in my library, I do recommend this book to people of all ages. I am extremely happy that Mr. Dowling didn't appear and was only talked about, but I am really not looking forward to him in the coming books. I do not have a fear of clowns but Mr. Dowling really is pushing me toward one.

Born of Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon

This is the first book in Kenyon's League series. I have read this book before I just really wanted to reread it. I will state once more that I am a huge fan of Kenyon's, but I will keep this unbiased and give my true thoughts on the book. That being said I hope you enjoy this review.

Nykyrian is the ultimate warrior. Trained by the League he has turned against them and left. He has been hunted by many because of this but no one has been able to kill him. His latest mission is to protect Kiara Zamir. Her father's political stance has made her a target, thus making her put her life in the hands of the same type of person that had killed her mother years ago, and threatened her life as well. Neither is too happy with being put in this situation, trust is not something that comes easy for either of them.

Having already read this book and quite a few others in the series, I will try not to drop any hints toward what is going to happen later. Nykyrian is a character that I grew to love as the book went on. He was one of those characters that drove you crazy because he is so stubborn and won't take what is being given to him. Obviously him and Kiara are the ones who hook up in the book. Kiara is the perfect counterpart for Nyk. He is hard, lethal and an overall bad ass, where as Kiara is graceful, compassionate, and loving. Both are stubborn, and not willing to be a pushover. Though I do want to see Kenyon put two characters who are not as compatible together. I like how Kenyon didn't let there be a dull moment in the book, there was something always going and always some complication coming up until the very end. I liked how Kenyon didn't come out and tell everything about this League there are still a few questions that are unanswered that I am sure will be confronted in other books. The League could be compared slightly to the military as we know, but at the same time it really isn't because of the brutality that the 'soldiers' take. I also love that Kenyon didn't stick to Earth. This series is going to take place, in space and on different planets. So I would say that this book is a Sci-Fi and future related book. It is really nice that Kenyon didn't stick to Earth and changed a lot of things that would take me a really long time to type out.

There are a few things that I didn't like about this book, and they were that this almost seems like a Dark-Hunter rerun just different plots and characters. Hopefully this will pan out differently in the other books. Also Nykyrian's past is not pretty in any way. I was cringing a few times just from a few details. I know I said before that the nonstop action in this book was a good thing, it was also a little annoying. I wanted just a little more of calmness before the next big thing popped up and needed to be killed. Though after reading this book I have a feeling that it is going to be necessary because that is the nature of the characters. They are not people who are able to relax, they are wanted for various things and so that makes their life very hectic. I don't like the brutality that these characters are going through though, and when Nyk talks about his coworkers you know as a reader that no one is going to have it easy in this series.

Even with all the things taken into consideration I still really enjoyed reading this book. I am expecting things to not be pretty for characters in the coming books. With that being said and with my already having read a good portion of this series, I am going to warn readers. If you do not like for the characters to have a hard, brutal, background that will have you cringing from small details, you may not want to read this series. But if you read Keyon's books Acheron, and Styxx without a problem then you should be able to read this series without a big deal. There is my warning. Everyone is different. Like I said I am really hoping that this series won't become a run of the mill series for the plot. If it does I will say so.

Styxx by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Sorry that I haven't blogged in a month, I have been super busy but I haven't forgot about anyone who reads my blog! I will do a reminder though about how I do my 'reviews'. Since Styxx is recently released and people will be looking for reviews on this book, I will say that I am a different kind of book reviewer. I give a summary, then I go into what I liked and disliked about the book. I do put spoiler alerts around things that I consider a spoiler. Then I do my usual ending to a review. So I hope you enjoy the review and thank you for reading! This is the twenty-third book in the Dark-Hunter series, depending on what books you count apart of the series and what ones you don't.

We read all about Acheron, now it is time for us to know Styxx's story. Things are not what they seem especially when someone is in a biased state. People can hide things, people can change. Just like Styxx, Bethany needs to right some wrongs. But Styxx in the end has to choose between the woman that he loves and his brother. Things never dull down for anyone in this book, and just when it seems things do calm down, it is just the opposite.

Styxx has been a long awaited book for anyone who loves the Dark-Hunter series. Some want to know if he really is as bad as everyone has made him out to be. All I can say is that part of me know that Kenyon wouldn't make him that bad, but another part of me was wondering if she would make Styxx that way. I am glad though that Kenyon did make Styxx good. I loved that we were able to see just how much Styxx didn't have it easy. Basically the whole book is placed back before present time. I loved that we are shown Styxx's softer side and how he can, unlike what other people in the series, show his feelings and feel something. I love how when I was reading Styxx I couldn't put down the book, over 800 pages, and I just couldn't stop till I finished. Another thing I like is that with this book being so big I would be able to read it over and over and find something new every time that I read it.  I also love how so many people in the book grow. There are so many secrets that are hinted toward and spilled I will not do any spoilers for that! I refuse to do any spoilers for the secrets. I am happy that this book wasn't like Kenyon's other books, in the run-of-the-mill category for me.

To keep on the secrets deal one big secret is hinted toward but not given up and it drove me up the wall. Another thing that I didn't like was that the book was set mainly in the past and once the speed up came along everything that needed to happen almost happened in a rush at the end. I do understand that Kenyon wanted to show more about Styxx in the past, but I wanted to know what happened more in the skipping ahead of dates (chapters for the book).*SEMI-SPOILER-ALERT* The main thing that I did not like (but completely know that it was necessary) was the brutality in which Styxx suffered. It was horrible and had me cringing and just glad that Kenyon didn't go into great detail when it happened. *SEMI-SPOILER-ALERT-ENDED* Other then those three things I didn't really have anything other to not be happy about with the book.

After reading this monster of a book (and I mean that in a good way) I really felt that emptiness that hardcore readers get when they finish a book. I laughed, I cringed, and at some points I just wanted to put the book down because of the brutality. Though in the end I was very happy with the book and I would not hesitate to reread it. I do own this book, I got it from Premier Collectables. I do recommend this book to whomever can handle a book that is not all cute bunnies and puppies. Kenyon is one of my favorite authors, and I can't wait to read more from her.

A Living Nightmare by Darren Shan

This is the first book in the Cirque du Freak series. I have read this series before but it was a really long time ago. Like back in middle school. So I have decided to reread this series again. It was the highlight of my middle school years. So please enjoy :)

Darren ventures to a late night freak show takes him deep into the world of vampires. He thinks it will be just another night, but instead it just turns into one bad event after another for Darren. Will he join the ranks of the undead?

It really has been a long time since I read this book. I didn't remember everything but I do remember somethings. My favorite character out of this whole book would have to be Madam Octa. She is one of the reasons why everything goes wrong for Darren. *SPOILER-ALERT* I like that one doesn't have to become a full on vampire, they can become a half-vampire and eventually the vampire blood will take over and then they will become a full vampire. *SPOILER-ENDED* I also like that in this series vampires do not live forever but to some it may seen forever. Shan puts a spin on the normal way that everyone is used to seeing some become a vampire.

For a book labeled "teen" at my library it would be an easy read even for a teenager to read. That being said for me to read it at 19 it was a little slow, and it's perfectly understandable. I really don't have anything else to say that I didn't like, besides being a little slow for me it was okay.

Shan is an author that I love to read. Like I said before I am thinking of rereading this series all over again. I do want to have this series on my bookshelf, and I own this book and one other from the series. I do recommend this book series to other people, older and younger, who wants something to read that is on the easier and quicker side. This was a really short review but this was a really easy book to read. I only had one complaint, and there were a few things that I remembered and liked from the first book.

Bad Blood by Mari Mancusi

This is the fourth book in the Blood Coven series. I do have reviews for the other three books up.

The Blood Coven decides that Magnus needs a blood mate because Sunny isn't a vampire therefore not a co-ruler in their eyes. Jane Johnson is chosen because of her Oxford University background, and she looks like a supermodel for vampires. Sunny being the way she is, is not fooled by Jane's demeanor and lack thereof knowledge for Oxford. Magnus doesn't think anything of it and brushes her off more then once. Sunny and Rayne secretly go along to Vegas where Magnus and Jane are going to have their bonding ceremony. Sunny's determined to know what is going on with Jane, and not everything stay's in Vegas.

Back to Sunny's POV, we see things are not going that great for her and Magnus. I like that Mancusi shows that sometimes one person in a relationship may not be paying enough attention to the other person, especially when things are not going great. Though Sunny hasn't really grown in this book, she does prove that she can take hits and keep moving. I liked that though Sunny was ready to throw everything away with Magnus she still kept trying and didn't give up. I also like that even though Rayne was too upset with recent discoveries and didn't help Sunny that much, Sunny still did everything with minimal help and to the best of her abilities. She looked at the good in the situations and tried not to think of the bad as much as she could. She proves to be a lot stronger and a lot older mentally then what Magnus was seeing. I did like the ending as well, it shows that the series is not over with

There where many things that I didn't like, but it wasn't anything serious. It was just about events that happened in the book. They are huge things that happened in the book that shocked me and made me mad at the characters. They are also huge spoilers so I will just put them all in one big spoiler alert as usual. The first thing that I didn't like that I can say wasn't a spoiler was that Magnus was a huge ass to Sunny when she had every right to be jealous and upset. He was a huge butt and could have been a lot better about it but he does apologize. Now for the spoilers..*SPOILER-ALERT* The other things that I didn't see coming was that the twins father ended up having an love child with his secretary and so Sunny and Rayne have a half-sister named Stormy. Next was that Mancusi would pull the identical twin switch again. It was a great twist but almost just another repeat of the first book. Then the ending with the twins were told that they are full blooded fairies and the royal court is calling them home. And where is this fairy court? Off the coast of Ireland on an island. Why is everything taking place near or around the Ireland area that deals with fairies of some sort? Examples: The Fever/MacKayla Lane series and now this. I think I just might go to Ireland to see some of these fairies for myself.*SPOILER-ENDED* Now that that is done I really don't have anything else to dislike. Though I could have done without the Twilight reference.

For a series found in the "teen" section of my library, it wasn't that bad. It was a quick and easy read, taking me about three hours to finish. I recommend this to other teens, and the only warning I have is for parents that are watchful of what their child reads, this does have a little sex talk but nothing (and I seriously mean nothing) crazy. I wouldn't have a problem letting my teen (if I had any, and I don't with only being 19) read this book. This series is turning out to be more and more interesting. I don't know if I would want to buy this series, I will wait till I read the last book in the series to decide if I want to or not.

Time Untime by Sherrilyn Kenyon

This is the twenty-second book in the Dark-Hunter series, depending on how you look at it and what books you count to be in what series. I know I jumped from the nineteenth book to this one, that is because I have already read those books, before I started this blog. I have read basically all of Kenyon's books.

Kateri doesn't believe in anything supernatural. She has been haunted with all sorts of dreams and images, and of a man that she doesn't even know. But sometimes, you have to see to believe. Ren is trying to keep a prophecy from coming true. Along the way he has to fight an evil to keep from possessing him. Not that easy when he has to keep Kateri alive to help with the prophecy, and wonder if she will end up killing him in the end as well.

Time Untime for me was more on the sweet side, for me. Other Kenyon books are more on the action side with splashes of cute, sweetness throughout the book. Ren was a character that needed that extra kindness and sweetness because of his horrible past. *SPOILER-ALERT* I was expecting Grizzly's hold on Ren at the end to go a little farther, and that Kateri would have had to of come up with some strategic way to get Ren out of Grizzly's hold.*SPOILER-ENDED* It didn't happen that way and it would have made it more of the same. So I am happy that that didn't happen. If I were to compare this book to Zarek's book (Dance With The Devil) I would have to say that it is almost the same. Zarek and Ren both have a slightly worse background, Astrid and Kateri have to show them that not everyone is out to harm them. But everything else is different, which I am glad. Overall my favorite character is Ren, I found him adorable and I have not a clue why. I couldn't put this book down, I had to keep reading it, I had to know what was coming up next and what was going to happen, so that is a plus.

Even with one thing not happening, that I mention in the spoiler, this book was a little predictable. But not as much as I thought it was going to be. That could be just me though, and someone else picks up Time Untime and they think it is completely predictable. There are parts that are predictable, and there are parts that I thought one thing was going to happen and it didn't. Besides being slightly predictable, I didn't have any problem with reading Time Untime.

Just like last time, I recommend this series and Kenyon as a author as a whole, to a slightly more mature audience. Just because of the sex dialog that pops up. I own this book, it is a resident on one of my two bookshelves. I only had one thing that I didn't really like, and it wasn't even that big of a problem. Ren and Kateri reminded me of Zarek and Astrid, which I found cool. This is a shorter conclusion, because I would just be repeating everything from the last book I did a review on for Kenyon.

*Just something I remembered. I don't normally find spelling mistakes in books, but this one caught my eye. It is the last page of chapter ten. It is the word "sauce" in the book it is spelled "sance". I love spelling mistakes, not to rip on the author or the publishers, or anyone (because sometime I, myself have a horrendous time of spelling). I think they make books pretty cool, even if it is in every single book, I love them. Now if it is a pretty bad mistake, that's when I will be a little like "what no one noticed this". That has yet to happen to me. Back to this spelling error, I caught it, giggled, pointed it out to my mom, and went on. It was that quick, and that cool. :D

No Mercy by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Depending on how you look at it and what books you count to be in what series and what you define as a series, this is the nineteenth book in the Dark-Hunter series. I have done another review for one of Kenyon's books. I plan on doing more, I know Styxx will be one of them as well. I am a huge Kenyon fan but if you have read my review for one of her books, I try as hard as I can not to be biased. There are things that I find wrong, and that I do not like, even with being a huge Kenyon fan. I will warn again that I will probably drop spoilers if you have not read all the books previous to this. If it is an actually spoiler about the book I do put the warnings around it as usual.

Enemies have found a source of power that is new, that allows them to do things that they weren't able to do before. Dev Peltier thought he saw it all, being the bouncer for the door, now he knows better. Teamed up with Amazon Samia, they have to break some rules and hope the consequences won't come back to bite them too hard for it.

Samia (Sam) is my kind of woman, she is hard and not willing to back down. True to her Amazonian history, Sam know how to kick ass. I love all of special abilities that she is able to do since becoming a Dark-Hunter (DH). Dev is one of my favorite quadruplets, he is sarcastic and doesn't take anyone's crap. His love for his family runs deep, and Sam is his perfect counterpart, besides the fact that Sam is a DH and Dev is a shapeshifter. I loved how things went a little different in this book then in some of Kenyon's other books. They have to go on this semi-big adventure and that really kept the book interesting and kept me from thinking, for the most part, that this would be just like all of her other books. I just love Samia's character all around, she's very strong for everything that has happened to her, much like all the other DH's. *SPOILER-ALERT* Obviously Sam and Dev get mated together because of the Fate's being spiteful. Just like Fang and Aimee. Not so predictably Sam decides to stay a DH, but thanks to Savitar all four can have babies. And of course Dev is completely quite when it comes to Sam having psychometry.*SPOILER-ENDED* I love Savitar, in this book, the little appearance that he makes. He shows his more sensitive side and it really made me happy. Small things make me happy in books, this can go the other way too, though.

I did say how the adventure that Dev and Sam (with some friends) have to take keeps the book a little off the run of the mill track. But it doesn't keep it off of that track completely. There are very predictable parts in the book, I mentioned a couple in the spoiler but once some start reading the book they should be able to tell what the predictable parts are. Besides the whole adventure part, there really isn't a huge ending. The book pretty much ends calmly. Which isn't a bad thing, don't get me wrong, but after all the hype created around Sam and her psychometry, I was expecting just a little more. This doesn't mean that the ending was a complete failure, because it wasn't. I enjoyed the ending.

This is a series that I began in about ninth grade, and have continued to read now as I enter my second year in college. Though there are things that I am not too happy with with the books, I overall enjoy reading Kenyon's books. I recommend them to everyone looking for a larger series, but with this recommendation I have a warning, it's for a more mature audience. There are sex details, but nothing super crazy compared to some of the other things I have read. The only other thing is you have to read the books in order if you don't want to give anything away. That being said, I will continue to read Kenyon's books and I will reread them over and over again. I do own this book, and quite a number of her other books. I want to own all of Kenyon's books eventually.

Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning

The fifth and final book in the Fever series or MacKayla Lane series. I do have reviews up for the third and forth book. I am very sad that this series is now at a close.

Mac is consumed with grief and has to find a way to cope. She has a mission to control the Sinsar Dubh, but the book has other plans and starts going after the ones that she loves. Mac faces questions that she doesn't know how to answer and no one around her will give her a straight one. Unsure of who to trust, allies become enemies.

I am going to start out saying how much I grew to love this series, and now I have finished the last book. As I said before, I am sad about this. This book completes the series, with a bow wrapped around it. Mac grows completely into this woman that is kick ass, beautiful, and smart all in one. I love Jericho, and in Shadowfever he is around so much more and Jericho lovers will be pleased with this as well *SPOILER-ALERT* although they will not be happy in the very beginning *SPOILER-ENDED* just remember one thing readers, Jericho is special. I love all the spins that Moning put in this final book. It had me on my toes at all times, guessing and going over the series in my head thinking of clues that she may have dropped before. This also wasn't that great of a thing, I will get into why later on. The explanations that are given about the Silvers, Fae, Unseelie, Seelie, the King, the Queen, the Concubine, and the Sinsar Dubh really ties the series together and makes this book that much better. There really are not any loose ends, it's an ending that you can take however you want to, for now. If Moning brought back Jericho and Mac in her other series (I don't know if she does yet because I haven't started reading any of her two other series) I would be beyond elated. I didn't really like V'lane since the beginning of the series and I find out why. Readers also find out more about Mac, Jericho, and just all around questions that have been floating around since the beginning of the series. *SPOILER-ALERT* In the end, Mac gets her sort of happy ending. Alina doesn't come back from the dead, and it is a good thing because that would have made the ending too perfect. Also I love the hardcover books wrap, it is almost like the Sinsar Dubh in your hands *SPOILER-ENDED* I was happy that not that many people died, or at least all of the characters that I have come to love.

As I was saying earlier there were so many spins in this book, that I was just ready to have the answers, by time I got half way through the book. This is me, other readers may love it, and that is perfectly okay. I liked it but at the same time it annoyed me. I started to roll with it because I didn't want to figure out what the latest turn may come out to be. I like to figure things out, but I got tired of it, like I have been saying. The spins also make it very hard to put the book down, and this isn't a small book. It is six pages away from being a full 600 pages long. I finished this book in two to three days, which is a lot quicker then I would have liked to of finished a book this long. As we readers of this series know, the Sinsar Dubh has to be put back into containment. Obviously this happens and when it does, it wasn't as climatic as I was hoping for. After all was said and done, I was disappointed. After all the other plot twists this was the less crazier one, and I was expecting more. Though I am almost happy that nothing huge happened after everything else that has happened.

Even with the three things that didn't please me with this book, I still really enjoyed reading this book. I would read it over and over again. I would recommend it to others, it's only five books and the fifth book is the longest. Though this is needed, for the most part. I want to own all of these books so I can read them over and over again. I have a feeling that this series, for me, will be one of those no matter how much I read them, every time I do I will find something new about them. There are not short stories that involve Mac or Jericho. Dani does have one book, maybe more to come? And the Highlanders also have a series going.

Zom-B City by Darren Shan

This is the third book in the Zom-B series. Now to impatiently wait for the fourth book to get to my library.

B is out of the secret military compound and outside roaming London's deserted streets. Will she join Mr. Dowling? Everything has changed and there is danger everywhere now.

This was a slower book, out of the three books that I have read so far. I liked this because the past two books have been packed with nonstop action that this book allows the reader to take a breather without being too slow. There are things that happen throughout the book, which keeps the reader engaged. Mr. Dowling makes a reappearance in the end and he is still just as flippen' creepy as the first time he made an appearance in the second book. *SPOILER-ALERT* I love how Shan made all the other zombies unsure of B until they know for sure that she is a zombie and not worth eating. *SPOILER-ENDED* I really want to warn everybody that all three books have a 'to be continued' ending, and it drives me insane sometimes.

*MINI-RANT* If I saw anything as creepy as Mr. Dowling just walking around I would scream like a little girl and lose my mind. Shan has created the creepiest clown/zombie thing ever and he creeps me out if you can't tell. I do not like Mr. Dowling at all. I am beyond happy that he is fictional. I would not want to live on this planet anymore if Mr. Dowling was real.*MINI-RANT-ENDED*

There is very few things that I didn't like about this book and it would be the appearance of Mr. Dowling, if you can't tell from my mini rant above. The other thing that I didn't like is how short the book is, because I wanted to keep reading, and keep reading. Along with this book being so short, the past two books were short as well and I can finish them within a few hours of starting them. Those were the only two complaints that I had about this book, really.

This series is turning out to be really nice, I get all the gory goodness I want. Yet again I love Shan's work, and I want all of his books one day, and this series is not exception. I recommend this series to people who like zombie books, and this series has  a spin on it as well that I am really enjoying.

Zom-B by Darren Shan

My library finally got the first and third book in the Zom-B series. I did review the second book earlier.

B doesn't think the outbreak in Ireland is true, not until the school that B goes to gets attacked. B lives with a racist, and abusing father, and a mother who just goes along with it. Life was simple for B, go to school, don't annoy father, and hang out with friends. But sometimes that simplicity goes wrong quickly.

I am glad that I read the second book before the first book, because I would have been confused as to what gender B is. In this first book B is not referenced to as a male or female. This would have confused me, because I would have gone along not knowing what to reference B as. There are a few hints about what gender B is, but nothing that jumps out and waves at the reader. I didn't mind this so much but it annoyed me a little. *SPOILER-ALERT* Towards the end of the book the reader does get a full and direct person saying what gender B is. *SPOILER-ENDED* The book was simple and a quick read, which I think all of the books in this series will be. Which makes it pretty nice. I love that this book is never really dull, there is always something happening. I also love the ending to this book by a landslide.

I also don't like the fact that I know all of the books are going to be on the smaller side, because I was able to read this book within a few hours. I don't want to finish the books so quickly, but they are action packed from the first page. There really isn't much I have to complain about this book. Like I said I did do a review for the second book not too long ago.

Darren Shan is one of my favorite authors. I have been reading anything by him since I was in middle school, and I am going into my second year of college now. I definitely recommend any of his book, and the Zom-B series is shaping up to be the same way. I want to one day own all of Shan's books. He is a great Teen book writer that people of all ages can get into. I have the third book on hand like I said and I will be doing a review of that as well, probably really soon.

World War Z An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks

Yes I have finally finished this book! Now I can get back to doing reviews and not feel bad about having to finish a book while reading/reviewing another book.

Max Brooks decided to do something a little different and place the book after the war against zombies has already taken place. The main character goes all over the world talking to everyone. From government officials down to a regular nobody. We the reader get their stories and their horrors that they went through while they survived the zombie apocalypse. There are still some zombies out there in the world but they aren't as big of a deal now. Every interview is a survival story, and that of a tragedy because of the loses that the person suffers.

There were very few stories that I actually enjoyed reading. I think out of all of them there were only 5 that I got really interested in. Other then that I was just trudging to the end of the book. For me this book was very dry, even for the zombies being in the book. I love zombies, I didn't really love this book, didn't really like it either. Before I get any judgement, I went into this book being told how great and attention gripping it is. Obviously this just wasn't that kind of book for me. Maybe for others it is everything that they wanted and more. I couldn't get into the book even from the first interview. I liked that too about the book, it wasn't a normal the narrator tells the story.

It took me so long to read this book because of it being so dry and not really boring, but my mind was able to wander while I was reading a lot of the time. I almost put down the book and called it quits but I realized I was only 100 pages from the end and buck up and read it. I'm glad it did because at the end there is a chapter called "Good-byes" and in it there are a few smiles able to be given.

If someone asked me what I thought about this book I would say that it is an okay book, but not great. Would I recommend it? Not really, not before warning about it being slow and a little dry. I wouldn't just say negative things about it, but really I found more negative things about it then good. I own this book, I don't think I will be rereading it though, I would gloss over it, but not thoroughly read it again. I know I am not the only one disappointed in the book, but I also know there are people out there who like or even love the book. I am truly happy for them (no sarcasm intended!).

Blood Promise by Richelle Mead

This is the fourth book in the Vampire Academy series. Before I started this blog I did read the other three books. Sorry it has taken me so long to get another book review up, I was visiting my friends and they didn't have a very reliable internet source.

Rose Hathaway has gone on a mission, one that is entirely risky. Will she kill Dimitri, or choose eternal love? Things at St. Vladimir isn't great, either. Lissa is becoming rebellious, and now unguarded with Rose gone. Rose has to make some tough decisions and hope for the best. In Blood Promise Rose is trying to keep a promise that she made to Dimitri, to kill him if he ever went Strigoi. To do this she travels to Russia to track down Dimitri, and along the way she meets new people and really grows as a character.

Rose is a beautiful character. She is tough, and reliable, but when you need a friend Rose would be the person to go to. She is that best friend that everyone needs to have. Rose grows so much in this book, she realizes that she cannot have everything work out even remotely in her favor. She makes sacrifices, and deals with the outcomes. Some of these choices involve Lissa, Dimitri, and herself. She loses her way *SPOILER-ALERT* when she does find Dimitri *SPOILER-ENDED* but she does find herself again, and when she does things pick up and do not stop till the end of the book, but even the ending is big. I loved basically everything about this book. I wouldn't have liked the ending if I didn't own the next book. I also liked that this book is on a accomplished longer side. What do I mean by this? Mead did an excellent job with this lengthy book, by not having over exaggerated descriptions, unnecessary conversations, and being just plain wordy. That's what I think. Someone may not agree with me, but I think Mead did a great job.

There was  one thing that I did not like about Blood Promise and that would be that *SPOILER-ALERT* Rose didn't find Dimitri till a little more then halfway through the book *SPOILER-ENDED* so the last half of the book seemed to be completely full of twists and turns. I did like this at the same time, but for the most part I didn't because it drove me insane when I had to stop reading to do what I needed to do. Like I said before if I didn't own the next book the ending would have drove me insane because it is a cliffhanger. There isn't really anything else that I didn't like with this book.

I was, overall, very pleased with this book, and this series so far. The book was long, but I finished it relatively quickly. I cannot wait to read the next book, with the way that this one ended, this next book should be just as good as this one. I will, one day, have every single book in this series on my bookshelf. I will also reread this series, which isn't a common thing for me to do with a series of books. With only one complaint about Blood Promise, and my overall happiness with this book I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who likes a spin on vampires.

*Just as a reminder, it is taking me longer then anticipated to read this book. It is not your conventional read, and it is a little on the dull side for me. So I might pick up another book and read it along side World War Z, again. I will do a review on this book and if not I will say why I was unable to complete the book and give a review for as much of it as I can.

Update

I am still going to be doing a review for Max Brooks World War Z, the only thing is that it is taking me forever to read this book. Right after publishing a review, the book that I say I will be reviewing I start reading immediately. It has been over a week since I started Brook's book and I am just over 100 pages in. Life hasn't been very kind to me lately, but I am making the best of it.

Reason why: the way that Brook's wrote this book, is not something I am used to reading. Am I using this as an excuse? No. I am just trying to take in as much so I can give my best review for this book. That being said, I did check one book out at the library (which almost never happens) so that might be reviewed before Brook's book is. Like I said I am still going to be doing a review for Brook's book, when I finish it. And if I don't I will do a review of the book, for as far as I did read it and tell why I didn't finish it, like I said in my very first post I would do for any book that I don't finish.

I am doing reviews on Tumblr as well as here and I will keep doing that.

Thanks for reading,

Sucker Bet by Erin McCarthy

This is the last book in the Tale of Vegas Vampires, there are three short stories that go along with the series. I am unsure whether or not my library has them, but if they do I will be sure to grab them up. I am also thinking of doing a review of the series as a whole. Maybe that will show up later?

In the final novel of this series Gwenna has her story. Donatelli won't leave her alone, no matter what she does. On top of that Gwenna is dealing with a group of vampire slayers killing people. Gwenna is not one to hook up with a guy, but when Nate comes around that changes. Donatelli gets wind of it and is not very happy at all.

I love how Gwenna has been just a background character since the very first book with Ethan and Alex. Then in the third book Gwenna makes more of an appearance. In this book it is obviously about her. She has really come out of her shell, and has a 'no more guys are walking on me!' attitude that fits her. She is trying to get on with her life and she is showing her true colors. I love Gwenna, she has blossomed, she has shown everyone that even with the slayers going around and killing people she can handle herself. Nate helps her come out of her shell as well, where as Donatelli is just a butt as usual. He keeps up with his usual things and doesn't change. I laughed a number of times and they were just perfect.

I didn't like that the action took place at the very end of the book, withing a few pages. That disappointed me. I wanted a little more action then a simple roundup the slayers. That is about my only complaint with this book.

This series is a quick read. I would recommend this series to a more mature audience. I would love to have this series on my bookshelves eventually. I wanted more action time as a whole, but everything else was great.

Ask For It by Sylvia Day

This is the first book in the Georgian series. I am not sure if I will be able to review any more of this series, because my library only has this book, and no stores close by me have any of the others on shelf. Though if I am able I will grab the second book in the series and do a review.

Elizabeth jilted Marcus years ago while engaged and now with her husband murdered by highway robbery, she is back and he is taunting. Her late husband, Marcus, and others work for a secret society almost like our modern day FBI. Set in 1770, we are taken to a past without modern medicine or advanced technology.

I love Elizabeth, she is a spitfire. She is confident until it comes to Marcus, obviously. Ask For It was interesting and I couldn't put it down. Day wrote this very well and I wouldn't mind picking up a few other books by her. Normally I do not get into anything that isn't either present based, or future based. Though with this book I really liked the way that it flowed. I didn't get bored with anything. I knew what small events were going to happen-which I don't mind because they are small and if they didn't happen things in the book wouldn't make sense. With a title like Ask For It, and the summary given on the back, I almost thought that this would be a little more racier then it was, but compared to some other novels that some might have read, this wasn't as sex filled as I expected. Which again isn't bad, there was more space for the plot. I also loved the twists, just when I thought I knew who the bad guy was, something came into play and then I suspected someone else. *SPOILER-ALERT* Then when you finally know that the guy that is the head of the secret service that Marcus works for is the bad guy, you kind of suspected but at the same time doubted it until it was reveled. *SPOILER-ENDED*

With only reading the summary on the back and nothing more, readers have a slight clue as to what the plot is about. When actually reading the book the plot is almost completely different. Readers no nothing about Elizabeth's late husband, how and why Marcus comes back into the picture, and a few other things. All you know from reading the back is that Elizabeth jilted Marcus, went to another guy, is now back and Marcus is ready to jump her bones still. That's it. So from reading the back, and the title, and then beginning to read you get two different pictures. I was a little upset about this because, it is almost a false lead until you start reading. Another thing that I didn't like was that all the action took place within about 20 pages, and it was very quick. Everything else was detailed just enough, and then the main problem is quick and done. I wanted more action to happen then.

Despite the summary, and the actual content I did enjoy reading this book. I would have loved a little more in the summary department though. If this book and another book I wanted to buy were up for sale side by side with the same price I would probably go for the other book. I am not saying that I wouldn't buy this book I am saying that I would buy it when I wanted a good past plotted book.

Girls That Growl by Mari Mancusi

This is the third novel in the Blood Coven series. I have reviewed the first two books as well.

Rayne is back and this time she has to join the cheerleaders for Slayers Inc. Not for any slaying vampires job, but because they are growling. Not to mention a member of the football team is missing. This isn't the only thing that Rayne has on her hands. Jareth has become the complete opposite of what he used to be when he couldn't walk in the sunlight.

Rayne becoming a cheerleader? Yeah it happens. Completely out of the blue. But it wasn't that bad, there were some funny moments as Rayne blackmails one of the cheerleaders into getting her and another girl  onto the team. Even bigger shocker is that Rayne stays on the team! Throughout the book Rayne learns new things about herself, and she figures out that things need to change for the better. Which I liked because she is growing up, no more is the little girl who judges people based on the clique they are in. Jareth is someone who helps her see this too, along with Mandy (a girl on the cheerleading team, the one she blackmailed). *SPOILER-ALERT* Though Jareth has to go about it quite differently he has to break her heart and make the reader sad when he breaks up with her. It is short lived thankfully, and they get back together. *SPOILER-ENDED*

I didn't really like how easy it was for Rayne to figure out a cure for the cheerleading squad, and their predicament. It was about 4 pages, then problem sloved! Just have to go give it to them, without them actually knowing. It disappointed me, because it seemed like everything about this book was a simple fix. Nothing lasted very long, and the big problem in the book was fixed in seconds. I was hoping for more of a struggle with the main problem. The main struggle was with Rayne and her accepting things. I understand that but even that was almost a quick and easy fix it seemed.

Overall this was a easy read. I finished it quickly and didn't have a problem understanding anything. I wanted more of a struggle with the main plot, but I did pick this up from the "Teen" section of my library. That is probably why. Though I was disappointed with this book a little I would read it again just for the laughs that I got form it every now and then. Macusi is a very good writer and she does keep the reader engaged. This book was not left as a cliffhanger, so I am unsure what the next book is going to be about. There is a subtle hint in the book before the end, but even that doesn't really make for a cliffhanger because the reader is more interested about what is happening at the time the hint is dropped.

Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning

I will continue to do reviews here on Blogger and Tumblr. The URL for my Tumblr is in the very first post I have done here on blogger. You don't have to touch the Tumblr if this is more convenient for you, I just wanted people to have another way of reading my reviews.

This is the fourth book in the Fever or MacKayla Lane series, which ever you go by. I have reviewed the two before this book. I didn’t review the first because I have already read it before I started doing book reviews.

In the last book Mac was in the process of becoming a Pri-ya. This book picks up directly where it left off. Mac is in a heap of trouble, and things are just starting to get going now. The two people who were supposed to save her, still have their secrets and they are not getting any better. The world still needs to be saved, and the Lord Master is still after Mac. Hell broke loose literally on Halloween, and the pieces need to be picked up soon before the humans are killed completely.

Well I didn’t see this coming when I started reading this series. Moning has captivated me and I can’t wait to check out the final book in the series from my library. I am pleased to say that Barron’s didn’t piss me off in this book, but we still do not know what he is. I am hoping that that is revealed in the last book in some way. Mac and Dani make a great team in this book, and for a little over half the book Dani is in the scene constantly which I liked. Mac is also coming more into her birthright strength. *SPOILER-ALERT* Obviously Mac cannot be left as a Pri-ya, but Barron’s screwing her brains out to get her back to not being a Pri-ya I was not expecting. Though it was a “finally!" moment, I didn’t see it happening in that particular way. *SPOILER-ENDED* V’lane wasn’t around as much as I thought he would be, and I wonder what he was doing. Though the LM is around a lot more in this book, too.

What I wasn’t too happy about with this book is the ending because it is an eminence cliffhanger. I cannot wait to get my hands on the last book. The other thing I didn’t like was how wordy things became after a while. It was completely needed because of the fact that the things taking place, are not anything that anyone can see on a day to day basis. Those two things are about the only complaints that I have about this book

This book left me hanging and frustrated about that, but at the same time it is needed to keep the reader engaged. I want this series on my bookshelf one of these days, and I know that the last book will not leave me wholly disappointed. I will do a review of that book as well, eventually.

Bled Dry by Erin McCarthy

This is the third book in the Tale of Vegas Vampires series. I have reviewed the second book in the series as well.

In Bled Dry Brittany and Corbin are the stars of the book. Brittany has a bit of a situation that came about from the first book, when she and Corbin slept together. She's pregnant. Corbin proves to be more maternal then everyone thinks, even when he is still trying to find that cure that no one believes in.

This series hasn't been what I have expected, though I am only on the third book and there is another full novel, and three short stories. I really like that about this series. *SPOILER-ALERT* I love that those little things in the first book get resolved in this book, like who Brittany's father is, if Corbin is able to find a cure for vampirism, and a little more of a back story for Gwenna.*SPOILER-ENDED* Those little things are what kept me reading this book, and simply because I really like Corbin. I also liked that just because Donatelli was decommissioned in the last book that wasn't the last time the reader heard from him. Corbin had be laughing a few times just with what he said or did, which is a good thing when the author can make the reader laugh.

Though with this being the third book, things have become a little predictable. You basically know what is going to happen in the end as well. Which this is something I have come across with a lot of series. It's just a matter of what happens in the book that keeps me reading now. There really wasn't anything else that I didn't like about this book which is a good thing. I don't like it when I have a lot to not like about a book.

This is a series I would read over again, but not too soon after finishing it. I would also love to own this series in the future. Recommendations do go out for this book for a slightly more mature audience as there are bits of sex spattered throughout the book.
