Defying Destiny by Kylie Price

WHY IN THE WORLD DID I LET MYSELF TAKE SO LONG TO READ THIS BOOK?? I don't know but hey, I read it now! This is the second book in the Trinity series by Price, I do have the first book reviewed and I will be reviewing the third book. Price has an adult genre book out as well if the YA book isn't your cup of tea. I do have to thank Price, she gave the ebook to me for free, a long time ago. Thank you so much Kylie, you're seriously the best <3 And I suck and take forever to put up reviews. I need to get back in the swing of things.



Everything is changing. Some things really quickly and others not quick enough. Limits are pushed and bonds are formed or broken. Doubt can be poisonous and Trinity is slowly being infected from it. If she can get over the doubt and trust herself, she might be able to see things clearly. She can either defy what fate is trying to push her towards or continue. Which will it be?

I like that this second book picked up almost right after the first. Seeing as it's been a while since I read the first there wasn't much recap, which was good and bad. Good, because it was like picking up a new book and jumping into something awesome. Bad, because it took me a little longer to piece things together but I really didn't mind it. I laughed quite a few times and I think my favorite part was when Trinity got all excited to be able to buy her own underwear. I get excited for new underwear too!! I know I was looking for a breakdown from Trinity, as I explain in the first book review. Well she did have that breakdown but got back up for the most part. I also liked that there was more of Garth, I don't know why but I really connected with him in the first book, and I did see the surprise with him coming. I liked the ebook format because it was easy to pull up the Kindle app on my phone and read. That's all I liked about the ebook format.

Lets just get the ebook dislikes out of the way. I didn't like that I didn't have a physical book to read but I will buy one eventually. I was reading off of a tiny screen and had to frequently stop because my eyes started to hurt. Even with reading books on a computer screen I still have to stop. I couldn't tell how far along I was because half of the time when I tried to get the page count to come up it didn't. Now things I didn't like about the book, it went by really quickly. I feel like I could have finished it in about a day if I really was able to sit down and read it. There was only a few spots that I felt like they dragged on but really it wasn't much.

I'd love to have this book in print and eventually I will buy it. I'm not a fan of ebooks but I do like the format. I don't ever see myself fully committing to them because I love my print books. I do see myself rereading Defying Destiny, I will read the next book, and I'm not saying that because Kylie gave me both books. I'd love to read anything from Kylie and I know I would have still if I never entered the Goodreads giveaway. I recommend her books to everyone.

The Coldest Girl In Coldtown by Holly Black

This is (possibly for now) a stand alone by Black. If anyone remembers the review of the short story I did called The Eternal Kiss-13 Vampire Tales of Blood and Desire there was a story that left me in awe. It is what I like to think of as the prelude to this book also called The Coldest Girl In Coldtown. Black has quite a number of books out and I definitely plan to read some of them. I also have a video up on Youtube if you want to check that out.



Tana wakes up from a party, she and two other people are the only ones left alive. They barely make it out unscathed and from there it is one hell of a ride. In a Coldtown things are made to seem like it's one big party. It's not. If you don't want to be there you can't get out unless you have a marker. Tana is hoping to get through the next few weeks with no problems but things never go as planned.

What I liked: EVERYTHING. Pretty much though...I loved Tana and Gavriel. I absolutely loved to hate Midnight, I didn't feel sorry for her at all. I was completely taken with this book from beginning to end. I did not want to stop reading. I was left wanting more in a very good way, I do hope there is something more even if it is someone else's POV. I liked very much the differences between being Cold or Infected vs. being an actual vampire. Any differences from the run of the mill vampire tale is definitely worth looking into for me. I also liked that almost every other chapter wasn't in Tana's POV. It was in someone else's or in a different time period, a memory, it was something or another. It kept my interest very much. Along with the fact that there are quotes dealing with death at the beginning of every chapter. My absolute favorite was from Chapter 22; "One has to pay dearly for immortality; one has to die several times while one is still alive." Friedrich Nietzsche.

There was only two things that I didn't like, the first one is that this is quite possibly a stand alone. Black has said that she has ideas for another book but her agent is the one who gets to say yes or no. The second thing is that the ending, where as it tied up almost everything it left a few things up to the imagination. Don't get me wrong I loved the ending, I JUST WANT MORE!

Do I need to say I recommend this to everyone? 'Cause I do, young and old, just read the book! I want to own this book and I am currently looking for it. I do see myself rereading this book a number of times before I decide not to. I seriously hope there is another book. This makes the list of "Books that were awesome" for me. If you read it and don't like it that's okay! Not every book is going to agree with everyone, that's be beauty of life.

Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead

I've been looking at this series for a while now. I have wanted to read them because I have only read YA from Mead before. I know I need to finish the Vampire Academy series, which I will. Mead has quite a few series out and this is the first book in the Georgia Kincaid series. If this series doesn't appeal to you, maybe something else will. I want to continue reading this series, I really liked this book.


Being a Succubus isn't as cracked up as it seems. Besides the fact that they can be what ever they want, Georgina's life as one isn't the easiest. Georgina can't get close to a human without sucking part of their life away. So having a relationship isn't easy either. Her job makes up for something's, she works at a local bookstore. Which means she has access to her favorite author's books; Seth Mortensen. She can dream about him all she wants but other things are brewing. There are some creatures that neither heaven nor hell will claim, and they are stirring up more than enough trouble for the demon network in Seattle.

I laughed so much when I read this book. The quick whit from Georgina, and the smart remarks from everyone else was really entertaining. I made sure to pay attention when certain characters where in the picture because they normally had something funny to say. I want to more about Georgina, I want more from her early succubus days, and how she transitioned from human to succubus. I did like most all of the characters, I liked to dislike Helena. I have a feeling that I know where Georgina and Seth's relationship is going and it will either be a good response or a bad one from me, depending on how Mead handles it. I also want to see more from Seth's character. Things got really interesting at the end with Georgina and Seth.

I really don't remember not liking anything from Succubus Blues. I wish I could have read more of it in one sitting than I was able to do. The only thing I am questioning is if Roman is going to remain that big thing all through the series. I don't know how I will like that if he does, but again it all depends on how Mean has handled it. I have not read the other books summaries, I don't want to spoil anything for myself. I did see Roman being special in some way coming, and once certain factors where revealed I pretty much knew it, but it was pretty close to the end so it wasn't too bad.

This was a very easy read for me, like I said I just wish I could have read more when I was able to read it. I don't think I got everything from what little I could read, and that is why it took me so long to get this review up. I do recommend this book to a more mature audience, there are a few sexual encounters that parents may not find suitable for the younger ones. I would like to own this book, but the rest of the series remains to be seen.

Peeps by Scott Westerfeld

Most people know Westerfeld for his Uglies series, he does have quite a number of books published, Peeps also being one of them. As far as I can tell there is only two books that belong with the duology and no talk of a third. The second book doesn't follow the same characters as this first book but most do see it as the second book. Peeps was published back in 2005, right around the same time as Uglies. I have tried to read that series however, I could never get into it. I'll keep trying but don't expect anything any time soon.



A one night stand changes everything for Cal. The woman is mysterious and a carrier of a parasite. On the bright side Cal also becomes a carrier, on the downside he's given it to all of his ex-girlfriends. They've become Peeps, known more to the common folks as vampires. It's now up to Cal to track them down and stop them from killing or making more peeps. Thankfully with being a carrier you get all the extra strength, better vision and senses that the peeps do too. Cal's definitely going to need it with all the coming trouble.

I don't have very many likes for Peeps. I tried really hard to find more things but in the end I was more disappointed than anything. The first thing that I liked was the biology lessons. They made me laugh reading them, sadly enough  my nerd was showing and I understood everything that was going on. My favorite was the "Trematodes" chapter, that one had me cracking up (my sense of humor is weird, I know believe me I know). Also I laughed throughout the book, not just with the biology lessons and that helped my rating from being shit for this book. I loved most the different take on vampires or the peeps. I was kept interested the most by that, but eventually I realized that nothing special was going to happen so I just opted to finish the book.

I said I liked the biology lessons until they came every. Other. Chapter. Take them out and the actual story is not that big. I understand getting readers to know that things like the transmission of parasite to host is very common it can be detrimental, but can also be very positive for life. But come on! Every other chapter? It got old pretty quick for me, I felt like I was back in high school in sophomore year. Yeah this was way more interesting to read but I felt like Westerfeld needed something to lengthen the book. Also, the ending. Pardon me but WTF! One little blip with the main problem and then wham, bam done. And the "drama" with the Night Watch. Of course they are hiding things from you, Cal. They call you 'Kid' for a reason! (Okay I'm going to stop ranting now....)

I don't think I will be reading the second book, I would have to order it from another library and that could take quite a few weeks. Also with as disappointed as I was in the book, overall I want to hold off on the second book. I think younger kids could learn something from reading the book along with enjoying the plot. That being said I recommend this to the younger-ish ones. Not too young though, there is talk of sex but nothing to get upset over.

Nightwalker by Jocelynn Drake

Nightwalker is the first book in the Dark Days series by Drake. There are six full length novels and a few novellas. Drake has another series out just in case Nightwalker isn't your type of book. I found this book in the fantasy section of my library. This was published back in 2008 and the last novella was published in 2012.


By now Mira is used to being a nightwalker, it's been a few centuries since she has been made. Her mysterious power over fire makes her different from the other nightwalkers and has made her an interest to others. So far it seems that her power is keeping her from meeting her end. A new enemy has arisen and his name is Danaus, a vampire hunter. He's killed many of Mira's kind and she now has to make a decision, either hunt or be hunted.

Again another book that had a lot of action and a few sub plots that could make or break the main one. I think so far they are making the main plot stronger because all the smaller plots are adding to the suspension of everything that is happening. I especially think the conflict between Mira and Jabari could be a great explosion and I hope that Drake explored it. I do like that there is a slightly more complex hierarchy of vampires. There are the ancients, the middle groups and then lower and newer vampires. I haven't heard the term naturi before, which is another name for the fey creatures. The fey are not small or pixie like with Drake. They are not always nice either and this was a great change of pace.

I only have a couple of dislikes and one of them really dropped my rating for the book. Some authors hang onto a phrase and just use it to death. Drake used so and so person "ran their hand through their hair" so many times that I quit reading the book for a few days. In one chapter alone it was used three times. I tried to keep count for the book as a whole but I quit counting after it was used the eight time. I don't know what Drake could have used in replace of that phrase but something else was needed to express their frustration. The second thing that annoyed the crap out of me was that Mira couldn't seem to wear the appropriate attire. Yes, lets wear leather high heel boots while knowing that I have a number of people on my ass. There is cool looking combat ready clothes that she could have considered, knowing that there are lots of people that want her dead.

Nightwalker was a great read, and I was kept interested throughout the book. If it weren't for the phrase "ran their hand through their hair" I would have given the book a higher rating. I don't know if I would reread Nightwalker any time soon. I would like to own the book however it is a book that I would be willing to pass up for another. Honestly, I do recommend this for young adults as well, there's a few PG-13 parts but they don't last but a few paragraphs at most.

Touch the Dark by Karen Chance

Firstly, thank you to everyone who has read or viewed my blog. I woke up last week and when I logged into blogger I found that I was at 2,000 page views!! I know it may not seem like much but for me it is way more than I thought I would get when I first started this review blog some time ago. Thank you again!

Now that that is said, this is the first book in the Cassandra Palmer series by Karen Chance, there are a total of 6 books published and two more anticipated. I have heard that the seventh book in the series has had it's publication date pushed back a couple of times. It doesn't seem that this will be happening any more, hopefully. There is quite a number of books by Chance published, some that go along with this series and ones that do not.



Sometimes being able to see the future isn't as cracked up as it sounds. Cassandra Palmer knows this all too well because her ability makes her sought out by the dead and undead. Ghosts aren't a problem but they will talk your head off. It's all the other creatures of the night that make problems for her. Cassie escaped a crazy house run by an even crazier vampire three years ago and has avoided vampire as much as she can. But the person she is running from has caught up to her and she goes to the vampire Senate for help. Their help comes with a price, and she ends up working with one of the most powerful vampires. He demands a price to be paid as well and Cassie doesn't know if she is willing to pay up.

I guess I go through fazes of getting books that don't have enough action, to getting the books filled with action. Touch the Dark had lots of action, pretty much from about 20 pages in there was almost nonstop action all the way through. I was kept interested with the action but also with the talk about Cassie's back story, and especially a few of the vampires too. As always, I loved that there was more than two mythical creatures in the book. I do plan on reading the second book eventually and I hope to see more of the Fae, and witch aspect. *SEMI-SPOILER ALERT* I did see the part with Tomas coming. I didn't really like him in the beginning, he gave me a weird feeling. *SEMI-SPOILER ENDED* Whereas I wasn't really surprised, I am glad that Chance did that because otherwise events that where going on wouldn't have made sense. I extremely liked that just because one becomes a vampire, they are not automatically "awesome", they get there through lots of work and through the years. Otherwise they are nothing special.

I know I said I liked all the action, but I also had a slight problem with it. There wasn't much down time, and with this things moved really fast. I got confused quite often in the beginning because of this. Cassie would start to talk about her time with Tony and it just wouldn't make sense to me as to what was going on, and then the fighting would start. After a while it did become clearer but that was more toward the end of the book. I would have preferred a little novella to come before this first book just to give a taste as to Cassie's history.

With the couple of problems I had with Touch the Dark I still really enjoyed it. Like I said before I really want to read the second book because things have just gotten started. This is considered an "adult" book, there are a few sex scenes, but I have read much, much worse. A more mature teenager could handle this book no problem. I recommend this book, obviously with the caution to the younger audience because of the sex. I wouldn't mind owning this book, but it remains to be seen how the rest of the series is going to turn out.

Nightlife by Rob Thurman

Nightlife is the first book in the Cal Leandros series, there are a total of ten books published and a eleventh planned for 2016. I will be reading the second book, however I don't know if it will be right away or not (I've said this before but we'll see what happens this time). There are a few other books out by Thruman so if this doesn't peek your interest maybe one of the others will. I picked this book up seeing the name Rob, and I know I read a lot of female authors and I wanted to branch out into more male authors. However upon further research, Rob is a female. I tried everyone, I did. I even read the little blurb about the author in the back of the book and NOTHING said that she was female. Oh well, life goes on.

 

New York City doesn't know that there is a troll under their Brooklyn bridge, a boggle in Central Park and a vampire in the Upper East Side. Most humans don't realize what is going on around them, Cal does but he's only half human. The lovely father of Cal, his heritage is that worthy of nightmares. On top of that him and his otherworldly race are after Cal. Cal doesn't stick around anywhere long enough to find out why though. Niko, his half brother, and Cal for four years have been able to keep ahead of them, until now. Now they are about to find out exactly what Cal is wanted for. Hell on Earth, is just a metaphor for what Cal is going to be used for.

For this being Thurman's first book in 2006, it wasn't bad. It was really nice not reading a romance novel, and switching things up for a bit. I really enjoyed the sibling love throughout the book. Especially since not all half-siblings have the best relationships. I also really liked that Niko took his education seriously, to know more about your enemies and how to kill them is a good thing. Speaking of enemies, Cal has a lot of them being half Auphe (elf), and because of this there was a lot of action. I have had a problem with a lot of books not having enough action and this book definitely sated my action thirst. I loved that there where a lot of mythological creatures and not all of them are beautiful either. Some authors try to beautify mythological creatures (I don't have a problem with this) but not all of them are. I also loved that Puck was a character pulled into the book, if you do not know who Puck is look him up. I also liked the plot even if I did forget it with the first 100 pages.

The first 100 pages of the book where a bit of a bore. I forgot what Niko and Cal where after many times and eventually I quit trying to go back and read what it was. At one point in time I was about to put the book down but I was going to wait till about the 150 page mark before I did that. Thankfully before then the book really picked up. I also found that whereas I normally get engulfed with a book, this did not happen this time around. I could easily put the book down and do something else. I could have easily started another book and just forgotten about this one. Though because of this I ended up skimming over a good amount of the book. I read the parts that where important and skipped over that which wasn't.

I don't know if I would exactly call this an "adult" novel. I could definitely see this as a transition between young adult and adult, it meets a perfect middle ground. It wasn't bad by far but there was quite a few things I didn't like. Most revolving around when there wasn't action there wasn't anything, and when there was action it was good. I do want to read the second book, I am looking forward to what it holds, though it's not that high of a priority to read right this second. I recommend this book to all ages, not just "adult", and if you like fantasy, go for it. As of right now it remains to be seen if I would want to own this book.

Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead

Fifth book in the Vampire Academy series, I do have the fourth book reviewed. I do explain in that why I do not have the first three books up. Maybe one day I will reread them and also review them. There is one more book for this series, and eventually I will get around to reading it. Mead has quite a number of other books out, including a series called the Bloodlines series and it sort of goes along with the Vampire Academy. (Yes, there is a reason why I didn't mention the movie, I'm pretending it didn't happen.)

A heartbroken Rose returns to St. Vladimir's after a long and tiring trip to Siberia. She returns back to Lissa, and soon graduation takes place. The girls are ready for their life to begin outside of the academy's grip. Though even with that excitement looming there is almost always something that reminds Rose of Dimitri and she feels the heartache all over again. He's out there, and she knows it. Rose failed to kill him when she had the chance, Dimitri tasted her blood and now he's hunting her. She knows that if she doesn't join him as a Strigoi he will silencer her forever. But Rose won't give up hope, there are rumors and she must decide who matters most to her because of them. Risk everything and lose it all, or gain from it, is one of the hardest decisions she must make.

Rose is still my favorite character, though she annoyed me this book which I will get into in the next paragraph. Abe is creeping up in second place for favorites now. Rose was sassy and it had me laughing along with Adrian and him being himself. Speaking of Rose and Adrian, I was really happy to see that Rose apologized to him for certain things. She wasn't above apologizing when she knew she was in the wrong. I think more people need to be like this, and not so full of themselves. Apologizing to someone when you have done wrong isn't bad, if anything it can pave the way for making things better between the people. I liked that there was action pretty much throughout the book. It kind-of had to be that way because I probably wouldn't have finished Spirit Bound. The main problem was "solved" about half way through the book, so if there wasn't any action through the rest of the it I would have been disappointed. There where breaks long enough to process what just happened but soon after things would start back up again. Now, a lot of you know that I loath cliffhanger endings. This one however, when I finished reading the last line, it felt right. I don't know how I would have taken any other ending.

As I said before Rose annoyed me. Even though both she and Adrian knew that Rose wasn't over Dimitri, they still decided to try out a relationship together. This personally made me want to smack them both. Rose and Adrian should have stayed close friends (no I don't mean that in a sexual way unless they wanted that mutually) and waited until Rose was either over Dimitri or knew fully that she wouldn't be able to be with him. Let your heart heal before you try to jump into another relationship with someone, this keeps you from being hurt again and hurting the other person. I could go on about this but I won't. The other thing that bothered me was Adrian's family was being nice to Rose, including Tatiana. This didn't sit well with me, I almost feel as though Rose is being set up. I wouldn't have been rude, but I wouldn't let my guard down either. Also, with everyone being nice how did this not raise a number of red flags with Rose? The last thing that bugged me, I mentioned before, is the big issue for the book was "over" half way through the book, because of this I knew something big had to happen to be able to fill a second book. This thing had to be something other than Dimitri being a Strigoi. So I wasn't surprised when that big event was revealed.

I'm still a big fan of this series and I really look forward to reading Bloodlines down the way. I didn't realize that its been 5 years since this book came out, I was genuinely baffled when I saw that. I do recommend this book to readers of all ages, and not just teens. I will put a warning out for younger readers, there are a couple of heated scenes but they don't go far at all. This is my personal copy, I rescued it from my library on one of their book sale days. I did have problems with Spirit Bound but I still very much enjoyed reading it. I do plan to read the last book eventually but I will not start Bloodlines until I do, so that should lit a fire under me to get on it.....sometime in the future.

The Farm by Emily McKay

First book in the Farm trilogy, I will try to get my hands on the other three books. One of the three books is a novella that took place before this first book did. If I can't get the others to read, I will carry on reading what ever I happen to pick up as usual. The last book was published in 2014 and from reading a few things I think it might be safe to say that it is the last book. McKay does have a number of other books published and this trilogy looks to be her first go at YA novels.

In the Before life was completely different. There weren't any holding pens for young people, there weren't any blood thirsty monsters called Ticks devouring humans. The world was as normal as it could get. Then the Ticks came everything changed, now twins Lily and Mel are stuck at the Farm. Mel is autistic and it comes in handy quite a bit. Mel noticed that there is a portion of the electrical fence that is off every night. Lily takes this as their ticket out, though it won't be easy it is the only chance they have. Or so they think. Carter is a classmate of Lily's from the Before, and he has managed to stay alive this whole time. He has very valuable knowledge about life outside the Farm. Much like everyone else he has his own agenda, he also knows that there is a driving force behind the Ticks and it is a dangerous one.

I very much like how McKay had this apocalypse come about, it is a concept that I don't dismiss readily. The Ticks reminded me a little of The Strain but there are "normal" vampires running around too. I do like the idea of how things may end up going back in favor for the humans (possibly) because of the abductura and their special abilities with the Ticks. I really enjoyed that McKay didn't make Carter and Lily get together in this first book. It was nice not having the main characters all over each other constantly because they are together. Plus it saves me from going on a tangent that this leads to the cliché of the second book being the break up of the relationship. I loved that the action was pretty much nonstop from the beginning, it really kept the pace of the book up. When things did calm a bit I would catch myself wondering what was going to happen next and what was coming. I wasn't drawn to Carter and Lily, but Mel and Sebastian actually. I really wanted to see more interactions from them but obviously it was more about Lily and Carter in this book. I do believe that the next books might have more of Mel and Sebastian in them which I look forward too.

I did have a couple of problems with The Farm. It was a very good book, well written, very descriptive, and I didn't want to stop reading. There was action throughout the book, but when it came to the end and the "big action" that was being built up to, I felt that it lacked very much. Everything was literally over within a couple of pages. I know I shouldn't be too harsh but it bugs me when this big event for the end of the book just flops. I also didn't like how I can tell what relationships are going to ensue throughout the series. For example Carter and Lily, Sebastian and Mel. I wouldn't be surprised to see McKay switch them up too. I still have high hopes for the trilogy, I just hope this isn't going to be a let down in the end like another trilogy I finished up with not too long ago.

The Farm wasn't a complete disappointment, but I was hoping for more when it came to the end. I can see "adults" liking this book, along with young adults. I don't see a problem with a younger reader having at this either. There is talk of sex and subtle hints of rape but it's nothing compared to some other books out there. I definitely don't see the younger readers being traumatized over The Farm. Owning this book would be nice but I would most likely read the rest of the books before I make a definite decision on it. I can see myself reread this a couple of times though they would be spaced out quite a bit. As usual what I did happen to mention is not everything that happened. If you think you may like to read this book, I say go for it.

I Kissed a Zombie, and I liked It by Adam Selzer

This is a stand-alone book by Selzer, who does have a number of other books published. I honestly don't know how this review is going to turn out at the moment of typing this. I really hope I don't hurt anyone's feelings. I don't intend to, and this is my honest thoughts and feelings of this book. If you loved or liked this book there is not a thing wrong with that.

Uniquely named Algonquin (Ali) Rhodes is the high school newspaper's music critic. While reviewing a gig she gets awestruck by a singer named Doug. He looks goth, and not a fake kind of goth. They are introduced after he gets done singing, and upon a little questioning he talks very quietly almost like a whisper. Once they are dating, Ali finds herself falling hard and because of this she doesn't notice a few things about Doug. He doesn't change his clothes, his head is slightly shaped differently, and he really doesn't speak. It isn't until a classmate points out the obvious for Ali, that it all comes crashing down. Doug isn't exactly a goth, he's a zombie. Seeing things in a new light, Ali learns that zombies are really hard to get rid of. Not to mention the vampires, that are practically like the mafia, don't appreciate Ali's critique that makes fun of the band.

I loved Ali's full name, Algonquin. I thought it was really different and I haven't read any other book with that name for any character. I like her whit for the most part and I really wish that she would have used her brain a little more than she did. I like that vampires, werewolves, and zombies are known and how that came to be. Obviously not all zombies are mindless because Doug is up and walking without moaning "brains". He's alive because he drinks embalming fluid to keep him going, where as if he doesn't he will turn to dust which is what happened with most of the other zombies. I love the message at the end the "don't take life for granted". I think a lot of younger people do do this and don't realize that you won't have your younger years forever. Don't just waste it away, enjoy it, because eventually you won't be able to. The vampires straight out annoyed me but in a good way, it's been a while since I have read a book where the main character doesn't like them. I also like the point that gets made of, get your head out of your S.O. butt and back into your life. Your life cannot just stop because your boyfriend or girlfriend is there. You have to live for yourself. I chuckled just a couple of times, I wish I had more because this book had a lot of potential for it, but it just didn't happen.

Now, this is the part where I hope not to offend anyone. For this being a younger young adult novel I can see where some of this is relevant, but for the most part I found it annoying. Ali lets herself be blinded over the fact that Doug sings a few songs that she loves and he really puts some emotion behind his singing. She blatantly ignores the very, very obvious fact that Doug is a zombie. Then once she finds out she decides to break up with him but never gets around to it. She decides to break up with him over a few things; him not texting her back that very moment, him not telling her that he is a zombie the very moment that they met, and a few others. Also along the lines of her not realizing that he is a zombie, Megamart are the people who made the zombies rise and used them as slaves. Doug takes her to Megamart to specifically pick up his medication. She then goes into this rant about Megamart, and reveals a few things that all point to Doug being a zombie. Yet it still didn't click for her. For a girl with a head on her shoulders she sure as hell let one thing knock it off. I really didn't see a plot to this book. Live life fully? Don't take things for granted? Don't be an ice queen? What? My favorite annoyance is the sexual innuendos list. "We might have to do #7 from out list later." They hadn't been dating long and yet she is ready to go all out with him. Don't put this in a YA book. I really could go on about what annoyed me in this book but I won't.

I can see this being a younger adult novel, it's small, and it's a quick read. I think younger girls especially need to see how dumb it can look for them to be completely and utterly wrapped up in their S.O. It took for Ali to see how others where acting, before she realized that she was doing the same, and it looked bad. There is nothing wrong with being in love, just don't make it the end all be all when you are still so young . I liked a few of the messages but overall this book annoyed me and made me want to hit my head against the wall. If I saw this book for sale I most likely wouldn't get it. I recommend this book to those who have read this review and still want to read it but you have been warned.

Trinity-The Prophecy by Kylie Price

I won this book through a Goodreads giveaway* that Kylie Price herself hosted. The Prophecy is the first book so far, there is a second book planned as far as I know. Price does have another book out called Wings of Vengeance. I did mention The Prophecy in my November and December book haul, and along with the book a few other goodies came all the way from Australia! I want to visit Australia in the warm months, and I am happy to have something that came from there *strokes book lovingly*.

Since fifth grade Trinity, Nikkee, and Sky have been best friends. It seemed that nothing could tear them apart. Until Trinity's eighteenth birthday, a day that should have been a big deal. The big 1-8, but it turned out to be anything but a milestone. Time was running out for Trinity, a prophecy foretold that she would be scratched by beast and bitten by monster. By the next full moon she would have to choose a side. So many questions pop up in Trinity's mind, will her friends still be there for her? Which side would she pick? What would happen afterwards?

I don't think I have read many books where an individual who has been attacked by a werewolf and bitten by a vampire has survived without being in a lot of pain or just died. I liked that a lot about The Prophecy. I couldn't put the book down, even with a few things that bugged me which I will get into later. I loved that there was a bigger backstory that kept being hinted toward and then finally told. The backstory really had me interested because it was the reason (for this particular book) as to why some supernatural creatures where created. I'm very curious to see how the second book pans out in terms of Trinity and her decision. Character-wise, I loved Nikkee I think she is another best friend that everyone should have. Sky, I wasn't too crazy about just because of the way that she acted but it is still very redeemable. I really want to see more from Garth though, he really intrigued me and he wasn't in the book all that much. Even though things moved really quickly, I feel as though it worked really well for The Prophecy. If it wasn't as fast paced as it was I could see myself having a hard time finishing the book. I laughed a few times which I always enjoy from a book. The preview for the second book realllly has me wanting more. The action in The Prophecy started and ended very well and I didn't have a problem with any of it. This ends with my love-hate relationship of a 'to be continued' cliffhanger, but I will take where it ended.

There where a couple of things I wasn't too happy about. They did drop my rating just a bit but not dramatically at all. The first one was the first third to almost fourth of the book I felt like it was "and then this happened, and then this happen, and then, and then" etc. Though those words weren't said all the time that is how it felt. It bothered me, but I could ignore it easily and soon it just stopped. The other thing was Nikkee seemed a little too good of a friend to be true. Nikkee is rich and it is mention a number of times that she is, and like I said it just read to be too good to be true. I hope that made sense.. But that's how I felt, if you feel different that's perfectly fine. The final thing that really bothered me that I could have missed, was that Trinity seemed to have little inner turmoil going on. I don't feel that there was a lot, and I don't know about anyone else but if I was told the things that Trinity was (and I won't even spoil them because it will ruin a good portion of the plot) I would have lost it mentally. Trinity held it together nicely, yes. She did have a smaller breakdown, yes. She did have Nikkee to help vent and talk things over with, yes. I guess I would've liked to have read a little more in terms of a inner battle with herself. There was some, it just didn't feel like enough to me.

All in all I really, truly did enjoy The Prophecy. It was a very good read and I loved it. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone who wants to read it. I don't see anything wrong with an advanced reader in middle school reading this. It's a pretty clean book even with the fighting in it, much worse is seen in movies. There is some Australian terminology, but if you use your context clues it's not very hard to figure out what it means. Obviously I own the book, and I would reread this many times before I would put it down for a length of time. I will review the next book, and any of Price's other books when I can.

Love is Murder edited by Sandra Brown

Before I jump into the review I want to say that I will be doing this review not like my other short story reviews. There are a lot of stories and to go one by one would make this post really long. To prevent that I will do this review like the full length novels.

Twenty-nine short stories of romance, suspense, mystery and more are beautifully put together in Love is Murder. The authors that are showcased are Roxanne St. Claire, Carla Neggers, Beverly Barton, Robert Browne, Andrea Kane, William Simon, Laura Griffin, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Dianna Love, Patricia Rosemoor, Jon Land writing with Jeff Ayers, Heather Graham, Mariah Stewart, D.P. Lyle, Cindy Gerard, J.T. Ellison, Bill Floyd, William Bernhardt, Brenda Novak, Vicki Hinze, Julie Kenner, James Macomber, Alexandra Sokoloff, Pamela Callow, Debra Webb, Toni McGee Causey, Lori Armstrong, Allison Brennan, and last but not least Lee Child. I don't know about you all but I recognized quite a number of these names and got really excited to read a little from all of them.

I liked and even loved well over half of these stories, I'd say close to 95% of them. With the first story Diamond Drop by Roxanne St. Claire, I forgot that I was reading a book of anthologies and thought I was reading a full novel. A couple of stories later Speechless by Robert Browne had me raving. *SEMI-SPOILER ALERT* I was sincerely hoping that the boyfriend wasn't the bad guy, but when it became solid who was, part of me knew it and the other part of me said "well damn, that ain't right". *SEMI-SPOILER ENDED* After reading Deadly Fixation by Diana Love and Hot Note by Patricia Moore I could definitely see myself picking up a novel by each of them and know that I would love it. The mix of action and supernatural always draws me in, but the way that each wrote had me fixed to my seat and not moving. The same goes for Grave Danger by Heather Graham, I wasn't left disappointed at all, once I had finished I wanted more. With Dying to Score by Cindy Gerard, I normally wouldn't read something that is war driven but I think I might start thanks to Gerard. This would be a perfect series to get into because this short story is part of her Black Ops series.

I wasn't really disappointed about any of the stories. They all had their things about them that made them great. However, there are some that didn't strike my fancy. Spider's Tango by William Simon was one of them. It was more of run of the mill kidnapping story. I knew within a few pages who the real bad guy was and what his problem was. Last Shot by Jon Land and Jeff Ayers is a conflicting one for me. I love the plot and where things are set to go, if it where a novel I think I would like it more. The last anthology in particular was a let down for me. I was expecting a little more from Lee Child's I Heard a Romantic Story. I love the ending and everything, but just the way that it was led there I didn't particularly like. I was expecting more from Child, I know his work is very good. I was quite happy with how few stories I didn't like too well.

In the end I am so happy to be able to say I own this book. What stories I did mention are not all that are in the book, and I highly recommend Love is Murder to anyone who wants to read it. The only thing I would suggest is to get a hardcover copy. I have a paperback and it was killer not to break the spine and read all at once. There are some sexier scenes in this book, so anyone not wanting that or don't want their younger child to read it, don't pick it up. I do know I will be picking up a few books by some of the authors I was introduced to. It is a great little collection to sample some writings of others, and a great way to find some new authors.

Fangs for Nothing by Erin McCarthy and Kathy Love

The second and final book in the Erin McCarthy and Kathy Love duology, Fangs for Nothing is a continuation of the last book. You can read that review here. I am very sorry if there is a less amount of book reviews going up this month, life is chaotic right now. I will try to get up as many as I can though, and this review won't be that long, if you keep reading you will find out why. Thank you for sticking around!

You would hope that you never get drugged in your life, but when it happens twice to Johnny Malone and his friends, something is seriously messed up. Things where going as good as they could at Saxons wedding. That is until the next morning when they realized that things didn't go as well as they wanted it to. They were robbed, Saxons Dominatrix wife's dress is missing, and Saxon is missing too. Johnny is handcuffed to Lizette, who is from the Vampire Alliance and dealing with his "death". Josie saves Drake from a sex swing, and she could be the thief, or the group of drag queen all dressed like Cher. All that's left to do is find out!

Same as last time, they lose their memory only this time there are civilians tagged along in the memory lapse. There were a lot of common likes from the last book to this one. I laughed a little more in this one though. I did like that things were not completely the same as the last book. Lizette is my favorite character, because she is so used to being by the rules that it takes a wild and crazy night to show her that things don't need to be too straight laced. I can relate to Lizette on a number of occasions, which makes understanding her that much easier. I also like that the characters where the same, we are introduced to two new characters and they are just as quirky as the rest of the gang. This was a quicker read than the last one, but still a good book

I do have some things to complain about though. Dancing Vagrant wasn't in the book but his parrot was, thankfully. I do understand the plot of the book and the whole memory loss. But things where so similar to the last book that I almost didn't want to read straight through. I knew who had done what, and who hooked up with who. This book was pretty much a repeat of the last book, just a few changes. There could have been a good change of things with keeping the memory loss as the center focus, but I don't not like the book because of this.

If I hadn't of liked Fangs for Nothing as much as I do, I would have given it a much lower rating. That being said, I probably won't reread this book in its entirety for a while. I recommend this regardless, and I do want to own it. Pretty much everything that I liked from The Fangover can be said about this one. Once again I am so sorry about not having a lot of book reviews this month, I am hoping once some of the craziness dies down to get more up.

The Fangover by Erin McCarthy and Kathy Love

First up in this duology, The Fangover is a spoof of sorts, of the movie The Hangover. I do have the second book and I will have a review of that up when I am able. There isn't any talk of anymore books for this duology, but you never know.

Vampire and rock-god Johnny Malone commits suicide, and the rest of his band, The Impalers, do what they would do when any good friend dies. They celebrate his life with a wake, and send him off in style. Though blood, alcohol, and grief are some combination for everyone. Stella, Johnny's sister, takes the news hard and ends up in the arms of Wyatt, the bass player. The rumble in the sheets was great but Stella doesn't want a relationship especially with her brother dying so soon. She ends up stuck as a bat after the wake and can't change back. No one can help her either because no one remembers the night before. This doesn't help Cort either, who wakes up with a ring on his finger and married to the newly turned Katie. He just doesn't remember any of it, like his friends. Off to Bourbon Street they go in search of clues as to what happened.

McCarthy and Love put their own spin on this book and I loved it. Having seen The Hangover I can see the parallels between the two but I do like The Fangover a little more. I loved all the characters in the book even the ones who didn't get that big of a spot light. I laughed quite a few times, which is always nice. I liked how the story went in general, things didn't get too out of line with the plot, so I didn't get confused at all. The characters  are what made this book for me. All of them where different in their own ways, and it was funny to see what a few of them were going to do. The ending was my favorite part, when you learn a few key facts.

I am indifferent about how I knew pretty much what had happened from the beginning. It isn't something I am upset about because I was kept interested and wanted to know why things went the way they did, and who played what role. I think that even if you have seen The Hangover or not you would have been able to figure out certain things. Things I would love to elaborate on but would give away the whole book. I do wonder about the second book though, and if McCarthy and Love are going to stick to the same plot or not.

Overall I would say that I did enjoy The Fangover very much. I do see myself rereading this book, just probably later in the future. I recommend this to anyone who wants to read it, though I will caution parents, there is sex. The characters are my favorite part of the book and it was a nice non-complicated read. It's perfect for that bit of comedy that you might need after reading other serious material.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

I know, I said OCD Love Story would be the next review up, but this book had to go back to my library sooner than expected. I have seen the movie and it was what prompted me to pick up and read the book. I am not going to be comparing the book to the movie now, but if people want me to and say as much, I will. This is the first book in the Mortal Instruments series, I do plan on reading the series when I can. So here is this review, and I hope you enjoy!

Think it was going to be just another day, Clary Fray witnesses a murder in a local club. The people committing the murder are just teens themselves and they have these weird markings on them. They are the Shadowhunters and they are warriors who rid the world of demons. Jace is the magnificent, blond of the group and no more than a day later Clary is in his world. To top it off her mother disappears and Clary is attacked numerous times. Clary is a mundane and has the Sight, the Shadowhunters are unsure of what to make of this. Hopefully it all pans out for itself, and for the good.

I finished this book, in about a day and a half. I am kicking myself for not reading this either when it got popular or when it caught my eye a few years back. Clary, Jace, Magnus, and Simon are my favorite characters by far, mainly Simon and Jace for their witty sarcasm and dry humor. City of Bones was fast paced and sometimes I got caught up in it and other times I was fine. I almost feel as though if it weren't so fast paced it would have been too wordy for my likings. The surprises aren't too crazy but hinted toward in a fashion that you know something is going to happen because of it. *SPOILER-ALERT* Not too sure how I feel about the whole brother-sister action in the book but hey, that may just be another twist in the series. *SPOILER-ENDED* I like that things were explained in a way that was as short as possible but held all the necessary details to get the readers through the book. I laughed a lot as well while reading, and I wasn't expecting that. I was expecting things to be more serious and I am really glad that it wasn't. I am also glad that this book isn't vampire based. There are vampires in it but there is other folklore that comes into play and it works for this book. This isn't a smaller book, this is a slightly bigger book and it is another nice change I have been reading books that are on the smaller side.

As for things I didn't like, one was mentioned in the spoiler part. I have a feeling it is all a bunch of lies but there is something that someone said that stops me from pushing it aside. The action in this book is another thing. Yes I said that I liked it but at the same time if it weren't for the humor in the parts that aren't full of action, I wouldn't have liked it. I did get confused in a few parts, I'm not too sure if it was the way that the passage was worded or what, but it didn't trip me up too bad. Hopefully this series doesn't disappoint in the end.

I devoured this book in a day and a half and if that doesn't show you that I liked it, I don't know what will. For a 'teen' book, I think people of all ages would enjoy this. It just feels right to me, and I think I might like this series a lot (at least I am hoping). I definitely recommend this book to everyone who has either looked at it, considered it, or anything. I would love to own this book one day and maybe I will. As usual when I can get my hands on the second book I will read and review it.

The Strain by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan

This is the first book in The Strain trilogy. It took me a long time to get through simply because college picked up big time. But I will have 2 other reviews up along with this one so stay close by for those as well. I do want to thank those of you who have viewed my other reviews of books, I appreciate it!

When an airplane comes in completely dark and no communication can be made, everyone assumes the worse at New York's JFK Airport. The CDC's rapid response team is called in and Dr. Eph Goodweather is with them. When the board the plane to see what is wrong no one is prepared for what they see. From that point on a virus spreads through the city, consuming with a endless hunger. A Holocaust survivor working in a pawnshop know that his nightmare has come true and a war with vampires has began.

From the very beginning I was hooked, I hated to put the book down because it seemed like every time I picked it back up, I was a couple pages away from something good happening. There is a beautiful back story that you get bits and pieces of, and it makes the story that much more interesting. I also love the fact that Hogan and Toro took the "normal" vampires and made them something different. *SPOILER-ALERT* Instead of having fangs, they have a stinger of sorts that comes out of their mouth to get their victims blood. And not all that are turned are smart, they have one basic need and that is to feed.*SPOILER-ENDED* They do take some of the myths that came with vampires and use them, which I love because lets be honest, new age vampires are just annoying sometimes. This was released in 2009, but it is a welcome to get vampires back to "normal". I do love two characters in particular and they are the Holocaust survivor, Abraham Setrakian, and Ephraim Goodweather. I'm not sure why I like them, I just do and I think a lot of people who read this book would say the same (at least I hope they would). They are just two of the few main characters.

I did say that I was hooked from the beginning, but that was short lived. By time I got to the middle of the book I pretty much knew everything that was going to happen, and what was tried to be kept secret. It was predictable and I was disappointed with this. Toro is the same man who many of people know as a director, and I was expecting something a lot better. The last 150 pages of the book seemed to drag on and take forever. Once the ending did come I did know how it was going to happen pretty much down to specifics. If the book would have continued being as interesting as the beginning I would be less disappointed. I do know that there are two other books after this one with it being a trilogy, but I don't know if I would read the second book anytime soon. There is a lot more to this book and I think that is another problem. It all is relevant to the story, but it seems to be too much for just one book. There are lots of characters that Toro and Hogan cut to after a few pages, and sometimes you forget who they are and how they are relevant to the plot. I didn't like this because I had to keep going back and rereading who was who. That isn't for everyone but it is for a few people.

My disappointment overrides how much I like this book almost completely. I do recommend this book simply because someone else might love it more then I do, but I would also warn them about what I didn't like about the book. Like I said before I am not sure if I would read the second book anytime soon, if I do you guys will be sure to know.

Sex and the Single Vampire by Katie MacAlister

This is the second book in the Dark Ones series. I did not know that, and I have owned this book for a number of years. I will try to do a review on the first book if my library owns it, and when I get around to reading it.

Allegra Telford, she's a Summoner who has found herself wrapped in a web of ghosts, demons, vampires, and much more. She knows all the right things to say about her slight limp, and her almost constant wearing of sunglasses. Christian Dante is a Moravian Dark One. He has spent nine hundred years looking for his Beloved, the one who can redeem his soul. They are polar opposites who have to make things work for the greater good. Something easier said, than done.

To begin I love the fact that Allegra and Christian are so opposite of each other. Allegra is an independent woman, who doesn't like to take orders, and stubborn. Christian is used to women who bend to the mans demand, he's arrogant, domineering, and overly protective. They butt heads at every turn, and sometimes it is hilarious to read some of the things they do together. Almost all of the characters, and ghosts MacAlister introduces in this book are hysterical. They all have their own personality and are not very similar at all. I like that things didn't get dull in the book often, there was always something that needed to be taken care of, and it all lead up to the ending. Most of all I love that Allegra and Christian bend to accommodate each others likes and dislikes...after a lot of leering at each other. I love how the ending didn't just come and go. It lasted (what I feel to be) a good amount of time. Though in some parts it did get a little tedious, I was overall happy with it. And the pink demon that was summoned.

The only thing I have to complain about is that while I was reading this book, I found that I could think about other things and still read. So it didn't really hold my attention as much as I would have liked but that's just me. There wasn't anything else that I didn't like about the book, I was genuinely happy while reading.

Overall I was happy with characters, plot, and the ending of this book. Obviously from the title of this book, it is one for a more mature audience. Though in all honesty I am sure there is much more intense books out there when it comes to sex spots in the book. I do like the way that MacAlister writes so I do look forward to reading more from her. I do recommend this book to others. I do own this book.

A Living Nightmare by Darren Shan

This is the first book in the Cirque du Freak series. I have read this series before but it was a really long time ago. Like back in middle school. So I have decided to reread this series again. It was the highlight of my middle school years. So please enjoy :)

Darren ventures to a late night freak show takes him deep into the world of vampires. He thinks it will be just another night, but instead it just turns into one bad event after another for Darren. Will he join the ranks of the undead?

It really has been a long time since I read this book. I didn't remember everything but I do remember somethings. My favorite character out of this whole book would have to be Madam Octa. She is one of the reasons why everything goes wrong for Darren. *SPOILER-ALERT* I like that one doesn't have to become a full on vampire, they can become a half-vampire and eventually the vampire blood will take over and then they will become a full vampire. *SPOILER-ENDED* I also like that in this series vampires do not live forever but to some it may seen forever. Shan puts a spin on the normal way that everyone is used to seeing some become a vampire.

For a book labeled "teen" at my library it would be an easy read even for a teenager to read. That being said for me to read it at 19 it was a little slow, and it's perfectly understandable. I really don't have anything else to say that I didn't like, besides being a little slow for me it was okay.

Shan is an author that I love to read. Like I said before I am thinking of rereading this series all over again. I do want to have this series on my bookshelf, and I own this book and one other from the series. I do recommend this book series to other people, older and younger, who wants something to read that is on the easier and quicker side. This was a really short review but this was a really easy book to read. I only had one complaint, and there were a few things that I remembered and liked from the first book.

Bad Blood by Mari Mancusi

This is the fourth book in the Blood Coven series. I do have reviews for the other three books up.

The Blood Coven decides that Magnus needs a blood mate because Sunny isn't a vampire therefore not a co-ruler in their eyes. Jane Johnson is chosen because of her Oxford University background, and she looks like a supermodel for vampires. Sunny being the way she is, is not fooled by Jane's demeanor and lack thereof knowledge for Oxford. Magnus doesn't think anything of it and brushes her off more then once. Sunny and Rayne secretly go along to Vegas where Magnus and Jane are going to have their bonding ceremony. Sunny's determined to know what is going on with Jane, and not everything stay's in Vegas.

Back to Sunny's POV, we see things are not going that great for her and Magnus. I like that Mancusi shows that sometimes one person in a relationship may not be paying enough attention to the other person, especially when things are not going great. Though Sunny hasn't really grown in this book, she does prove that she can take hits and keep moving. I liked that though Sunny was ready to throw everything away with Magnus she still kept trying and didn't give up. I also like that even though Rayne was too upset with recent discoveries and didn't help Sunny that much, Sunny still did everything with minimal help and to the best of her abilities. She looked at the good in the situations and tried not to think of the bad as much as she could. She proves to be a lot stronger and a lot older mentally then what Magnus was seeing. I did like the ending as well, it shows that the series is not over with

There where many things that I didn't like, but it wasn't anything serious. It was just about events that happened in the book. They are huge things that happened in the book that shocked me and made me mad at the characters. They are also huge spoilers so I will just put them all in one big spoiler alert as usual. The first thing that I didn't like that I can say wasn't a spoiler was that Magnus was a huge ass to Sunny when she had every right to be jealous and upset. He was a huge butt and could have been a lot better about it but he does apologize. Now for the spoilers..*SPOILER-ALERT* The other things that I didn't see coming was that the twins father ended up having an love child with his secretary and so Sunny and Rayne have a half-sister named Stormy. Next was that Mancusi would pull the identical twin switch again. It was a great twist but almost just another repeat of the first book. Then the ending with the twins were told that they are full blooded fairies and the royal court is calling them home. And where is this fairy court? Off the coast of Ireland on an island. Why is everything taking place near or around the Ireland area that deals with fairies of some sort? Examples: The Fever/MacKayla Lane series and now this. I think I just might go to Ireland to see some of these fairies for myself.*SPOILER-ENDED* Now that that is done I really don't have anything else to dislike. Though I could have done without the Twilight reference.

For a series found in the "teen" section of my library, it wasn't that bad. It was a quick and easy read, taking me about three hours to finish. I recommend this to other teens, and the only warning I have is for parents that are watchful of what their child reads, this does have a little sex talk but nothing (and I seriously mean nothing) crazy. I wouldn't have a problem letting my teen (if I had any, and I don't with only being 19) read this book. This series is turning out to be more and more interesting. I don't know if I would want to buy this series, I will wait till I read the last book in the series to decide if I want to or not.

Blood Promise by Richelle Mead

This is the fourth book in the Vampire Academy series. Before I started this blog I did read the other three books. Sorry it has taken me so long to get another book review up, I was visiting my friends and they didn't have a very reliable internet source.

Rose Hathaway has gone on a mission, one that is entirely risky. Will she kill Dimitri, or choose eternal love? Things at St. Vladimir isn't great, either. Lissa is becoming rebellious, and now unguarded with Rose gone. Rose has to make some tough decisions and hope for the best. In Blood Promise Rose is trying to keep a promise that she made to Dimitri, to kill him if he ever went Strigoi. To do this she travels to Russia to track down Dimitri, and along the way she meets new people and really grows as a character.

Rose is a beautiful character. She is tough, and reliable, but when you need a friend Rose would be the person to go to. She is that best friend that everyone needs to have. Rose grows so much in this book, she realizes that she cannot have everything work out even remotely in her favor. She makes sacrifices, and deals with the outcomes. Some of these choices involve Lissa, Dimitri, and herself. She loses her way *SPOILER-ALERT* when she does find Dimitri *SPOILER-ENDED* but she does find herself again, and when she does things pick up and do not stop till the end of the book, but even the ending is big. I loved basically everything about this book. I wouldn't have liked the ending if I didn't own the next book. I also liked that this book is on a accomplished longer side. What do I mean by this? Mead did an excellent job with this lengthy book, by not having over exaggerated descriptions, unnecessary conversations, and being just plain wordy. That's what I think. Someone may not agree with me, but I think Mead did a great job.

There was  one thing that I did not like about Blood Promise and that would be that *SPOILER-ALERT* Rose didn't find Dimitri till a little more then halfway through the book *SPOILER-ENDED* so the last half of the book seemed to be completely full of twists and turns. I did like this at the same time, but for the most part I didn't because it drove me insane when I had to stop reading to do what I needed to do. Like I said before if I didn't own the next book the ending would have drove me insane because it is a cliffhanger. There isn't really anything else that I didn't like with this book.

I was, overall, very pleased with this book, and this series so far. The book was long, but I finished it relatively quickly. I cannot wait to read the next book, with the way that this one ended, this next book should be just as good as this one. I will, one day, have every single book in this series on my bookshelf. I will also reread this series, which isn't a common thing for me to do with a series of books. With only one complaint about Blood Promise, and my overall happiness with this book I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who likes a spin on vampires.
